Convergence problem

replace the convergence ic. the IC# is STK392-120, replace this two ic at the same time. then put some silicon grease on the back of the IC for better heat transfer. some will work on replacing just 1 IC but I would recommend to replace both per philips advise. hope this help. regards, cebuwano.

43 philips problem with green

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Phillips chirping

two STK392-120 convergence modules that usually cause the beeping. So I changed them both again, but I also found two open 7.5 ohm resistors are in the general area of the convergence modules, and I replaced them as well. I also replace 1 swollen capacitor that was probably going to blow in the future but not really a problem yet.

Red Convergence issue. Can't adjust. 3d picture.

If you can solder, try resoldering the pins on the convergence ICs. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the ICs. Please note that there are potentally dangerous hogh voltages present inside hte set even when unplugged.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Adjusting to the proper color

Tint would be the control that will control the color balance, but this sounds like it may be deeper then that. Turn your color all the way down so that you have a black and whit picture. If the picture is still yellow then you have a problem with the blue picture tube.

My phillips model 60pp920217f

You may have to do the full convergence alignment for all three CRTs, as outlined in the service manual for your model. Do you have the full service manual for your set which outlines the alignment and convergence proceedures?

Phillips 43pp920217

On these sets, if your not experienced with this problem I would not try, but you could get the the part yourself and replace it. Call PTS 1800-844-7871 and ask to speak to a tech and he or she could tell you what you need and how to put it in. I just repaired a 51pp9202h/17 and would not want to do another. It has many boards in it and depending on the problem you could only buy another board and replace. Mine went black, I could hear audio but no picture. Thought it was the convergence board but it was the SSB the one with the Flyback on it. So after replacing almost everything I just bought another and its fixed now. So hope this helps
