It sounds as if the burners may not be properly seated on the valves. Instead of all of the gas flowing into the burners, some of the gas is escaping behind the front panel and creating a fire behind the front panel which would heat the valve shafts and melt the knob inserts. This call also be caused by partially blocked burner venturi and valve orifices.Check to make sure the end of each valve is completely inside of each burner.

Check that the gas jet is not partially blocked limiting the amount of gas out. To up size my bbq to a hotter flame I used oxy welding set tip drills and gently opened up a size. worked a treat and cooked quicker. maybe you can get next size jets for your problem. check that the regulator is not restricting the gas flow.

try claening the holes in the burner wit a small wire that fits the holes it sounds like they are clogged on that burner. poke each hole with a small wire to clean out the grease or carbon

The potential problem is you're either out of gas or the regulator is locked up.

To solve this problem, first be sure you have adequate gas in the tank. If that checks out OK, do the following:

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.

2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).

4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.

If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it, turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

I don't know how old your grill is, but as grills age, the gas ports in the burners begind to clog and corrode. Flame travesl around the burners like dominoes when you stand them up and knock them down, one port lights the next, etc. All burners light on just one side and there are ports that are designed to take the gas from the outside of the burner to the inside and from one side to another. Depending on how clogged the ports are, you can clear them using a straightened paper clip, or a drill with a bit. Be careful not to make the gas ports larger.

glo-warm doesnt sell a conversion kit since they have propane version they sell the propane unit --their are universal conversion kits but you would need to check if their compatible to the glo warm unit

Unscrew the gas igniter button and insert the battery positive end upwards. Then screw the button cap back on. A tip, don't let it rain onto that button. Torrential rain stopped my igniter working for 6 months.
