Hold PROG and +10 while turning it on. That should initialize the unit to factory fresh.

That sounds like a manufacture date being flashed. Have you checked the battery? If you can't backup first, all your changes (custom sounds) will be lost, but that might be what you are looking at. Replace the battery, or have a service center do so. You'll want to reset after. Try ROM check first. Initialization: Hold Page + and Page - while turning it on. Hi, if you do not already use a midi sequencing software try "Bome's SendFX". After installing, go to X5D menu 04A MIDI DUMP, choose data you want do dump (e.g. "all"). Make sure, that no SYSEX FIlter is active while working with a sequencing software. After transmission, you can save the "yoursounds.mid" file and send it back to the X5D later. Good luck!

Did you try to get to Global mode, and then check if the tune is 440 hz? Check the Global Settings. The tuning might either be altered or the key transposed..

Press:1- GLOBAL2- PAGE+ or PAGE- ,untill the display show "TRANSPOSE". Set the value to "0" using YES / NO or VALUE slider.

You can try this.STEP 1:Set Program protect and Combi Protect to OFF.- GLOBAL- Using PAGE+ or PAGE-, find untill the display show "3A-MEMORY PROTECT". Set the parameter to OFF by using YES or NO button.STEP 2:Data Load.- GLOBAL.- Using PAGE+ or PAGE-, find untill the display show "05A-PRESET DATA". Change ALL to PRG (your case). There's a watch type battery (flat disc) on one of the boards inside the X5D. This maintains the settings while the keyboard is switched off and could be the whole problem. The keys are on two different circuit boards connected with a multi-pin cable. If the cable were dislodged I would expect it to simply cut off half the keys but it's probably worth checking.

For Combi/Multi patches you can disable control changes for each sound under EDIT 6D but this also switches off other control change instructions (pan, expression, pedal etc.).

Somewhere under GLOBAL settings you should be able to find the modulation wheel Depth setting and set it to 0 which should stop your mod wheel from working but you could achieve the same effect by just keeping the mod wheel pulled all the way down.

You can't always believe the display in regard to the model... Try finding the revision level display that will tell you what you have... It is NOT likely a seller would strip a X5D case to try to fool you.
Find what the difference is in the model and test your unit for that feature.

Each key has two contacts which close at different times as a key is pressed which is how key velocity is measured. The failing key has one contact that isn't making resulting in the velocity is measured at max velocity so it is LOUD.

You need to clean the contacts which are usually conductive rubber pills pressed against circuit traces on a circuit board under the keys. The contacts should be cleaned using 99% isoprophyl alcohol and Q Tips.

The power adapter may be failing... make sure you have the correct one. It sounds like the power may be marginal and when you start loading it including the sustain it gives out...More than this would be a very serious problem that would not have a DIY fix.

You need a reprogramming done from the Maker . Contact Authorized Korg Service center . Be away from frauds.

On page 105 of your X5D manual, read up about "transpose". Setting the transpose shifts the notes plus or minus from the normal.
