I had many problems with the disc recorder on mine.contacted Alesis, told them the problem & they sent a list of places to have it repaired. Your CD drive needs to be replaced.

'Not working' in what way? Won't play back in one channel, won't record in one channel? Give us some detail to work with.

Replace the CD drive. There's a list of compatible drives online. There's instruction online for replacing CD drives in PCs, the Alesis is no different.

Make sure you're using the right kind of CD, as specified in the manual. The manual is online if you don't have a paper copy. It might help to know what the symptoms of the problem are - do you get a specific error message?

The Alesis fitted with a standard computer CD drive, there's an online list somewhere of compatible drives. Take the lid off, unscrew the current drive, and replace. It sounds like the drive is faulty. Online instructions all over the place on how to replace these drives in PCs - it's no different in the Alesis

The most likely cause is that it has a weak power supply, so the hard drive sometimes does not get enough power.

It won't write to a previously-used or partially-used CD, only a totally blank CD-R

Regardless of the size of HD you put into it, the Alesis will only 'see' up to a certain amount of the HD. 32Gb? Says how much in the manual

Yes, you need to scroll beyond the end of the current playlist, and delete the tracks from the disc, not merely delete it/them from the playlists

Depends on what you mean by 'reset' - there's a variety of resets, one of which merely resets the OS, another which deletes all data from the HDD .....

Delete tracks from the playlist to bring the total time to less than the maximum available on the CD. If you're trying to write a redbook CD this will be just under 80mins, less if you're using higher sample rates and CD24 discs.
