Transfer media from my camera to my computer manually (Using Windows)
1. Use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your camera to your computer.
2. MSDC appears on the LCD.
3. A window appears with a list of options, select "Open folder to view files" and click OK.
4. Open the DCIM folder and the folder inside to view the media files.
5. Select the media and copy the files from this folder into your computer. Optionally, select the files and choose Copy from the Edit menu. Then select a folder and choose Paste from the Edit menu.
6. We recommend that you copy the images into the Pictures/My Pictures folder and the videos into the Videos/My Videos folder.
7. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their way to your computer.

This camera does not need specific drivers from Vivitar (driver=instructions for hardward like a camera)
If you miss the old program you can probably download from the vivitar site their "Vivitar Experience Image Manager". If you're having a problem with codecs (the information your computer needs to decode video formats so you can watch them) you can get all the latest codecs by going to google and typing in "download matroska pack" and download the matroska codec pack.

Edited spelling of Vivitar and put in the right category. It sounds like it has let water in, or if not used in water, the switch is faulty. did you check that the charger is producing power? You can do this. Get an external USB CD /DVD player recorder to install the software or you can read the sd card directly from your PC if it has a card reader in it. If it doesn't you can buy an external reader for a few dollars and then you can download the pictures that way. You will find that downloading files from the sd card with a reader is much faster than using a cable.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

You have a defective lcd screen that needs to be replaced, even if LED back light works.

I am confused, this camera uses three AA batteries, installed in the bottom of the camera. If you wanted to use rechargeable batteries you would remove them and use a external battery recharger.

4K is not a selectable option on the camera. The specs say that it is 4K, so anything that you take video of will be 4K. The issue is whether or not your display device can handle 4K.
