Minolta EP1083 CS/PRO Copier - Page 5 Questions & Answers
The copies are coming out smeared and with lines. I wiped the (drum?) off?
What did you wipe the drum off with???? That is why you have this problem. You may want to try recleaning the opc with a dry soft rag, also you may want to clean the drum blade... If that dose not solve your problem, you may need to replace the opc & blade... Have you tried to stop the copy before it gets to the fuser unit.. If so, are the marks there???

Minolta Copier EP1083, copies are coming out mostly black
What you mostly need to do is to clean the optics under the copyboard glass the mirrors are mostly dusty... I would use a soft dry cloth to wipe the mirrors off. There is a mirror under the "Black Box" I would also, use a lightly damp rag with rubbing alcoh. to wipe OFF the scanning lamp & reflector. Cleaning the optics should get read of the dark back ground, but the drums are only good for 80k... You may need a new OPC drum & blade. Good Luck

If the machine sees the ADF ( auto document feeder) but does not feed the paper? Does it try to feed the paper? Does it pull the paper is a little and jam? If the machine sees the ADF and it starts to feed the paper but jams --- clean the feed rollers/ tires with rubber restorer or a high alcohol base cleaner. Also a mylar could be pulled into the paper path blocking the feeding of the paper. Take a thin piece of cardboard ( like the devider in a case of pop) and slide the cardboard about 3- 6 inches into the feed just past the feed roller. Gently pull back out and try to feed paper again. If those do not work and the machine does see the ADF, you may need switch, sensor, actuator or feed motor.

First make sure that all the doors/ covers are closed --- not just by looking but push on them. Sometimes over time the switch gets pushed in to far and even though the doors/ covers look to be closed the switch is not pushed in far enough. When you find the switch ( should be a little slot that you see silver through, you can bend it out slightly and gently.
