Lasko 2515 Tower Fan Questions & Answers
Can't seem to get it apart. I took the two screws out of the handle but it still won't open. There are more screws inside but can't reach them. Suggestions?
Karen, there are probably multiple screws that hold the face to the back; any deep hole in the back of the machine is probably a screw. they are sometimes covered by a rubber filler plug. take a small (jewelers) flat-head screwdriver to carefully pry the rubber plugs out - maybe tape the plug to a piece of paper noting where it went for easier re-assembly! Then remove all the screws, also taping and noting where they went if the screws are in multiple sizes.
If there are no more screws than the two in the handle, there are probably several catches on the inside that keep it together instead of screws.
You must be VERY careful doing this next bit so you don't break the interior catches. If they do break, duct tape is going to be your friend!
1. Take two medium-sized jewelers flat-head drivers and carefully insert one into the seam between the front and back panels and rock it back and forth a bit to open up a little space.
2. Insert the other one into this space and slid it down until it won't go anymore.
3. Take the first one out and insert it where the 2nd one stopped; rock it back and forth until the interior catch lets loosens/pops apart.
4. Keep doing this all the way around until you can use your hands to GENTLY pry the rest of the unit apart.
After cleaning/servicing the fan, VERY CAREFULLY plug the fan in and turn it on to ensure it still works! If so line the latches up, gently press the faces together, re-install the screws and enjoy the breeze! If it DOESN'T work, ummmm, good luck discovering the reason??!
My fan burn its a 110 volt but plug it direct 220
It must be burned because the voltage requirments is only 110 volts if it goes beyond that voltage it might be that the internal fuse of the fan or either the motor is burned and itshould be recoiled or replaced.
Fan comes on but will not blow cold air
This fan has a blower motor which will eventually fail. The fan will still oscillate , but the blower motor will burn out. The motor thermal fuse will fail , lower bearing failure and armature burn out. No replacement motor less than fan price so, when it goes buy a better longer lasting fan.
Disassembling a cyclone by lasko for cleaning
There are screws hidden between the slats on the side of the fan that are not obvious. You will also need to pry the fan apart as it snaps together. On the back by the power cord is a round tab over it. There are some screws under it. They hold the motor to the back assembly. It took about 7 minutes for us to get it apart today because of the screws being hidden on the sides. After a cleaning it won't turn on now.
