I don't know which of the three ways you're trying to charge - car cradle, via USB cable to a computer or via accessory AC adapter. An 18 month old 760 should still have a good battery.
If you are using your car cradle to charge consistently, use one of the other methods and allow the 760 to charge for 8 hours. Use of the car cradle can cause the 760 to stop taking a charge after a while, and switching to one of the other methods should "refresh" the internal battery. Since the AC adapter wasn't included in the box, the USB cable method is likely your only other choice. While connected to your computer, you should download & update the 760's firmware. It's fast and free - and could solve other potential issues. Get the
WebUpdater software direct from Garmin.
It is also possible that the fuse in the cigar lighter plug has opened. Disassemble the the plug to check for and replace a blown fuse.
If unable to get the 760 to accept a charge, you might need to replace the battery. There are several sources for batteries - but a free call to
Garmin Support should be your first move.
