Garmin Nuvi 760 Car GPS Receiver - Page 6 Questions & Answers
I am having the same problem with a twist, sound
If you use the headphone jack a lot and your missing the audio from the speaker and one channel from the headphone jack, then it's possible that some of the headphone jack connections have broken off of the PC board. The audio goes to the speaker through the headphone jack.
Please see this link for more info and read the section about the headphone jack.

Voice command is approx 200mtrs
This is known as GPS Lag syndrome.
Causes:
Batteries not fully charged...prior to trip
Positioned too far from the windscreen to get a clear view of the sky
Windscreen tint too dark
Heavy cloud cover
Try fitting it with an external antenna. Just run it from the bonnet around the windscreen drain area back under the bonnet through the forewall and up to Dashboard and on to GPS. The attached wire on these units is quite long... 3 meters so it will usually be long enogh for most installations. External antennas raise the signal by 28Db and help to reduce lag

Garmin nuvi is no longer charging via car adapter
Your car adapter may be broken. try unscrewing the top of it to check the fuse inside the cable. that can easily be replaced. other than that it could be the cradle (if your cable plugs into your cradle) or the back port of the unit in a worst case scenario
The woman stopped talking to give directions
If it is a Garmin connect it to the computer and go to the Garmin web site to update the software. That solved the problem for my neice when the same thing happened to her. Good Luck.
Does not power on when slide pushed whether on
I have the same problem and believe the switch is bad. I took the unit apart and discovered the slide switch was not accessing the switch. Could not fix the problem. Got to buy new one.
Will not turn on
It is possible that your battery is damaged. Does it turn on or flash when on charger? If so then remove and replace the battery with a new one
System Software Missing
well if the system is missing it cannot be detected, contact Garmin support for the fix. This happens time after time in their updaqtes
Our Garmin Nuvi was working until we stopped the car.
I've had this happen on three successive Nuvi 760's which I sent back, the serial numbers all suggested that they came from the same production batch..
Eventually I got a Nuvi 770 which has been fine. I understand that it's not a problem with the basic design as the 770 is really just a 760 with more memory, but it's probably a fault with a batch of components used during a production run.
This is not a DIY repair; contact Garmin even if your unit is out of warranty as they might offer a goodwill repair for free or at reduced cost.
