Hi there, I have a 1979 suzuki gs 750, It has not been driven in a while but runs perfectly when idleing, as soon as I accelerate it starts missfiring, please help.

Have done that, even went and bought 2 cans of carb cleaner and so on, had the carbs servised aswell as the whole electrical system. one thing bothers me though, I last drove the bike in 2004 and the headlamps dim or bright was broken and it started doing this. I dont know if the headlights are are wired as part of the electrical circiut and now that its still not replaced it doesnt complete the sirciut or so. i'm at my end with it, it idles perfectly, no missfires or anything, it only has 46 000 true km's on it but as soon as you rev it or it has to take the bikes weight and/ or mine its got absolutely no power at all.

have you checked the points and condenser? thats what it sounds like to me also the plate the points bolt to slides to adjust timing as needed, if they develop too much play or if its stuck and cant slide(advance) it will never run right at high rpm's, plus it will constantly burn the points. I had a car that did the exact same thing, easy fix (hard to troubleshoot) I hope thats all it is.
