This is a thermal switch, located on the radiator, the wires from the fan will be looped into this, normaly located to one side in one of the ends, if you have a switch on the radiator it will have 2wires bridge these together with the ignition on taking care not to earth any of the wires out, and the fan should come on, i presume your temp gauge is working correctly, and you have coolant in the system, check when cold the level of coolant not in the bottle but in the radiator, also check the fan turns manualy by hand and if you have a fuse covering the fan that it is in good condition

Where is the cooling fan sensor located?

The coolant temperature sensor is an input to the engine computer PCM , if there were a problem with the sensor the engine light would be on , is your check engine light on ? There is a fan control relay an a fan controller - electronic module ! If your cooling fans are not working look for one of these being bad !
GT Fan Control Module I have searched the internet for a fan control module for an 03 eclipse gt. I am not sure if that's the exact term for it but, it's the "box" on the back of the driver side radiator fan that connects the three connector plugs that controls the fans into it. My problem is that neither radiator fan works but, when I tap the back of the box the driver side fan try's to come on but will not stay on. The car will overheat if left sitting for awhile, I haven't let it completely overheat and turned it off before it got too hot. When I'm driving it stays in the normal range about half way up the gauge but if I stop it starts going up. If anyone knows where I can get one of these "boxes" that would greatly help me. Thanks

How do i bypass cooling fans so they can work>

You can disconnect the fan at the connector, & run a wire from a toggle switch at the dashboard & turn it on & off manually, but you would have to pay very close attention to your temp gauge, so the vehicle doesn't overheat, (this is not recommended) best to check the temp sensor or the relay at the under hood fuse box, it's usually one or the other, as long as the motors on the fan itself are operating.

My FUJITSU FMV-720NU5/B LIFEBOOK has this problem of sudden shut off when it's getting hot. What could be the possible solution for this problem?

1.Temperature gets high if many programs work, specially programs which uses more graphic and processor. Disable/uninstal some un-important program you have installed.
2.Normally Fan processor should be cooling the processor, but sometimes we must check the heatsink, something might blocked the fan to run run faster if system overheat >>> tri clean the heatsink and fan up carefully. you might need an air blows to sucked/blows the dirt inside the heatsink.

I own a 2002 grand am gt the fans dont work so the car overheats

The most common problem I see is a blown cooling fan fuse, usually a 30 - 50 amp fuse and it's larger than the usual small push in fuses and is usually located under the hood in a fuse and relay panel. If you live in a northern climate the fans will often become frozen in place with ice and snow and cause the fuse to blow when they try to run. It's usually not noticed until hot weather hits then the engine will overheat because the fans can't run due to the blown fuse. You could also have a bad fan motor that has just simply quit so if you find that all the fuses are good then that is certainly a possibility. Hope this helps you out a bit!

1994 Toyota 4Runner Overheating

I had the same problem - my 95 4Runner would overheat in 4WD only, and coolant would bubble out and spill over.

The problem turned out to be with the rear heater tubes and the fan clutch - my mechanic bypassed the rear heater tubes and I have no more problems. Not exactly sure why this helped. To replace the rear heater tubes, it would've cost $325, but to bypass cost $75. Most people don't even really use the heat in the back seat.

The second part of the problem, and most important, was the fan clutch needed to be replaced. At low speeds, it wasn't kicking in when it should have been, only working at higher speeds. Once I replaced the fan clutch and the bypassed the rear heater tubes, all has been well.

Hope this helps!!

2000 grand am overheats when the car is idle when

If you have A/C, turn it on. The fan(s) should come on immediately. If nothing happens, check that the fan(s) turn freely by hand and don't make any noise (from a bad bearing). Also check the fan relay and fuse. If the computer has a problem, it should show that it has one when a scanner is hooked up to it. The temperature sensor sends a signal to the computer and the computer tells the relay to turn on the fan(s).

My fan don't turn on so my bike overheats

Disconnect the fan motor and apply 12v to it. If it comes on the motor is good. If it does not, replace the fan motor. If it comes on, then your temperature sending unit is bad and not telling the fan to come on, replace the sensor.

Over heating triumph sprite motor cycle 955cc

Sounds like an airlock. When it fell over an air bubble would've gone to the highest point of the cooling system, & when you picked it back up the air gets trapped, if it gets trapped near the thermostat it will send the computer a false reading & fans wont turn on causing an overheat. Give the cooling system a flush. Remove lowest cooling system hose you can find I think its the water pump hose, & remove the radiator cap all the coolant will drain. Put your garden hose in the radiator turn it on & start your bike, run the hose through it for about ten minutes or untill the water coming out of the hose you removed runs clear then shut the bike off. Put the water pump hose back on, clamp it up, & fill the radiator 50/50 water/glycol. Leave the radiator cap off start the bike & get it to normal operating temperature, as it warms up air will rise to the radiator cap & the coolant level will drop just top it up accordingly. Once the bikes warmed up & bubbles stop rising,  put the cap back on & take it for a ride. Hope this helps!

Fan will not kick and wants to overheat.

I assume since it is a GT, you have ac. If you turn on the ac to max with the car running the fan should turn on no matter what the temp of the motor. If it does not, warm the motor up to OT(operating temp). You should here the fan relay click when it wants to turn on. If you dont here the click you might want to check the relay. A seperate fan relay should be under the hood in the power dis. box. It will say what relay it is. If it clicks, you might need a fan motor.....

95 grand am radiator fan only runs with AC on

Cooling Fan Temp Sensor is the First thing You Check (with what you have described) Cooling Fan Should ALways come On When The A/C is turned On as A/C Adds A Load to Engine, If Temp Sensor is Faulty it Will Not Give GROUND Signal to ECM >For COOLING FAN >RELAY to Give ground and turn ON The Fan.
There ARE 2 temp Sensors that Serve Different Purposes 1 is for Dash READING GAGE & Or TEMP LIGHT the Other is For ECM or Fan Relay (SAME Thing) you Said>""can disconnect the sensor and fan continues to run" < This Leads me to think you Changed the Wrong One. Not Questioning your Skills Just Here to Help.
TEMP SENSOR FOR 3.1L V6 is Located upper RH rear of engine compartment, near exhaust system. Temp SENSOR for 2.3L Engine is Located in LH rear of engine compartment.
I Hope this Helps Lead you to a NON-OVERHEATING Pontiac.
Good Luck and Have A Great Evening. rejakwilson
