Starter clicks but will not turn engine over on 2004 Dodge Durango. New starter and battery.

Hi Mark
Sounds like you are doing all the right things.
We used to Load Test a Starter Motor by putting it in a Large Vice and connecting a known good battery with solid fat jumper leads.
When the solenoid throws the cog forward to engage we would use a 2 by 4 block of wood levered against the cog to try and stop the starter from spinning. The wood burns up under load but it quickly proves the Starter is functioning under load. Without using the engine.
Also you could try removing the spark plugs on the engine to allow the compression to escape. Make sure NO sparks around to ignite any fuel vapor.
The engine should spin over easily like this and you can hear & see if anything is binding up.
Hope this Helps!
Good luck!

2005 Dodge Dakota engine wont turn over

Assuming that your battery is not dead, and that you have checked the battery connections, the most likely problem is a bad starter solenoid and will need a new starter.

When i turn my key to the start position the ignition start/run fuse blows. 2004 ram 1500 3.7 engine

probably a bad starter solenoid, first remove the negative battery cable, then remove the two wires from your starter, wrap them in black tape so they wont short out on anything, repl, ace your fuse and hook battery back up and turn key to start, no blown fuse-bad starter, if it blows the fuse it's a wiring short and you should take it to a qualified mechanic

I recently changed the starter motor and it ran fine for 2 weeks. i went out of town for 3 days and now the car wont start. theres no click at all. the battery is new as well. i think its something in the...

Starter turns the engine so the ignition system can fire the engine. If it will not turn, go back over starter circuit.
Starter solenoid is part of that circuit. Don't assume battery is good without testing. It must have a minimum of 12volts and should withstand a 200amp load for 15seconds and return back to 12v immediately. During loading, volts should not drop below 9.5volts.

My 1996 dodge stratus es wont start!

sounds like the starter here is why....
fuse blows in the under hood fuse block because the draw is to high to the starter. I got lucky and changed to a higher amp fuse to start the car to get in to my garage..... DO THIS ONLY ONCE AS HIGH CURENT IS NOT THE FIX,

Car wont turn over... put in a new starter, new battery, new timing belt, new spark plugs, car sounds like it will start but it wont turn over.

Double check the wiring to make sure it has perfect contact on battery, solenoid, voltage regulator (also check the regulator and starter relay)
You also may want to check the current on ignition module.

Wont start

Start by checking the battery connections. If they seem okay then, even though it may be pretty new, I would take the battery to the dealer and have them check it for an internal short in the battery. I had this happen 2 weeks after picking up a new car.
