SOURCE: on 2005 honda cmx 250 rebel does cam chain
Your bike has an automatic adjusting cam chain tensioner. No adjustment needed.
Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer? < And it doesn’t cost anything extra!
SOURCE: how do you adjust the tension on the timing chain
Hi blazinj
To adjust your cam chain.if you remove the small bolt in the top of the tensioner lock nut there is a 3mm thread in the adjuster rod.get your self a long 3mm screw or
possibly a spoke (i use a tail lamp screw)thread it into the adjuster. Start the motor and with it idling undo the lock bolt(14mm head) and pull up on the screw just enough to get rid of the rattle. Dont overdo it. Then tighten down the locker. remove the screw, and refit the cover. Done. Dont forget to rate me for the advice. Cheers

SOURCE: need to tighten the timing chain
It has an automatic cam chain tensioner. If you are getting cam chain rattle, I would look at worn guides/chain.
SOURCE: where should the timing marks
The timing marks should be at TDC, piston at the top of the stroke.
SOURCE: removing head from 250 honda rebel, how do i
Hello,
Your CMX 250 has a single camshaft with removable sprocket. The basic procedure is to turn the motor over so that the Top Dead Center ( TDC ) marks line up on the crankshaft and the motor is on the compression stroke ( both Valves are closed ) When the crankshaft is a TDC the timing marks on the camshaft will line up and be horizontal with the cylinder head surface. Now you can remove the camshaft sprocket bolts and pull the camshaft sprocket off of the camshaft. This will allow enough room to slide the camshaft out and remove the sprocket.
Be sure that you put the crankshaft in the TDC mark when you re-assemble the camshaft. It is critical that the camshaft and crankshaft are exactly timed properly or you can cause major engine damage.
Thanks and I hope that this helps.
