There is a sight window on the right side of the engine by the brake pedal. It may look brown or black. There is a screw in the window that operates a wiper inside the window. Once the window is clean, you should see an upper and lower level mark. You might want to consider purchasing a dip stick kit from J.C. Whitney. They are available for about $25.
Be sure to put the bike on center stand for oil check.

SOURCE: Will Castrol Power RS Racing 4T synthetic oil do

Synthetics work great in Goldwings, but it does need to be a motorcycle oil for wet clutch's. Look for the JASO MA rating for Japanese engines on the bottle. Do not use oils that say ENERGY CONSERVING on the label, they will shorten the life of the gears and wet clutch.

SOURCE: why is there oil coming out of my starter on my

The oil seal on the end of the starter is leaking or the o-ring between the starter and the case is torn. If there is oil in your starter you may have to replace it. If the o-ring is ripped , pull out the starter replace the o-ring and put the starter back in it is just leaking around your starter.

I have a 1983 Honda Nighthawk 650. After I run the bike a while the oil lever drops out of sight on the dipstick. If I refill the engine with oil to the top of the dipstick that amount of oil will gush out...

Check under the valve covers to make sure the rocker/cam bay is draining properly back to the crankcase. Open any clogged holes. Aside from that possibility, I'm stumped too. :-(

Valves never been adjusted

The valve tappet clearances for all Honda Goldwings from 1975 through 1983 are .004" on both the intake and exhaust, when the engine is 'cold'.
