Can i put 2002 yamaha dtr engine 125cc in a 1995 dtr 125cc bike?

The engine in my '95 model dtr needs replacing and the only engine i have to hand is '02 dtr engine. i need to know if the '02 engine and my '95 bike are compatable.

Well at first in wont fit because the cooling (LC) system will not fit the 02, but with a little welding and some alum works, you will be able to fit it.

the only difference will be the placing of the mount, weld holes and drill holes on the frame, but before you do so, remove all electric components from the frame.

Power commanders are only for injected bikes...
1995 FZR 600 has 4 cvk34 carbs...therefore what you would need is a dynajet kit.

Ok, i recently purchased a DTR 125 R 2000 model with running problems The bike will start with the choke on, then die with the choke off, the fuel/air mixture screw was mashed up so i purchased another...
Sounds like a vacuum leak is leaning out the mixture....check the intake between carb and engine for leaks...another source may be tjhe crankcase seals are leaking.

No spark on yamaha dtr 125cc
Sounds like you are flooding the engine with gas. Put in a new spark plug then twist the throttle one time to prime the cylinder. Now get your hands off the throttle and give it a few kicks. Each time you twist the throttle the power valve gives a shot of gas. Too much can flood the engine quickly.

I have a 95 to, mine rans around that and only goes up if it hotday and standing in taffic had it up to 80c once in traffic it was fine dropped when I took off ,check the the coolant only use destilled water and motorbike coolant to.does the fan come on ? hope this helps

Hi there i have a yamaha dtr 125 "1990 on a h,plate my left hand engine casein is cracked at gear select,coul anyone tell me what year of casings will fit,ive seen a 1999 one will it fit,also piston and...
The bike is 19 years old. Caseings will be VERY hard to find. Suggestion; take the case to a welding shop and ask them to weld the crack. Teey will have a MIG or TIG welder which will do the job and the cost should only be about 20 bucks.
