What are the standard wheel sizes of a 2009 FXST

Harley did not make a FXST in 2009 so I am assuming you need the tire and rim sizes for the 2003. The tire sizes are front 80/90-19 or a MH90-21 depending on rim size and rear is 150/80B-16 71H. I hope this answered your question.

How to chopper wire the

You'll need to wire in a starter relay. The relay has three terminals. One terminal connects to the battery, one connects to the starter button, and the other connects to the small terminal on the starter solenoid.

On the starter solenoid, the long post connects to the postive post of the battery, the shorter post connects to the starter motor, and the smaller center go to the starter relay.

Hi my name is T.K.

Place the wheel on a truing stand or take an axle and clamp it in a vice so that the wheel will be horizontal (the axle is vertical) when placed on it. Go around the wheel with a spoke wrench and put a little tension on each spoke. Next, put the surface gauge in position and give the wheel a spin. The loose-laced wheel will wiggle in one of three ways: It will roll from side to side, it will have either a hump or dip, or once the other problems are addressed, the entire rim may sit either too high or low, relative to the hub. Since side-to-side motion (which is an up-and-down motion if the wheel is positioned horizontally on the axle) is the easiest to remedy, start by finding the center point of the twist. Spokes will pull the rim sideways when they are tightened so tighten the spokes that would pull in the opposite direction as the twist. For example, if the rim is high in one section (assuming it's on the stand horizontally), tighten the spokes on the bottom side of the rim. Do just the opposite for low sections. Only turn the nipples in the center of the high point one or two of the flat sides and nipples at the outside of the imperfection one or no flats, depending on the severity of the side-to-side roll. Several small adjustments may be necessary to fix the problem.

My 2003 softail won't start or idle without using

Sounds like the carbs idle circuit are clogged from sitting or bad fuel . Try Some carb cleaner in it an see what it does after a tank fuel . Or take to a Harley shop to let a tech check the carbs an maybe give it a tune-up.

2003 fxstb bike will every so often will spit and

Ohh, that's hard to say what would cause this because there are so many things. It could be carb jetting, spark plugs, plug wires, trash or water in the fuel (especially a little water), or most anything. The problem is that since it only does it intermittantly, you'll just have to try a few things and see if it goes away.

The first thing I'd do is drain the tank and take the fuel petcock out. Check the screen and the vacuum diaphragm in the petcock. Take the four screws out of the back plate on the petcock and carefully take it apart. There is a needle, a spring, and a diaphragm in there. Hold the diaphragm up to the light and gently stretch it. Look for a hole. If you find a hole, replace the diaphragm. If not, make sure the petcock ports are clear of any debris and reassemble it.

When you put the fuel back in the tank, watch for water. Still, it's a good idea to buy a can of Sea Foam and add some to the fuel.

How do the front tubes

There is a bolt in the very bottom of the lower sliders. It screws upwards into the damper tubes inside the upper tubes. You have to remove the front wheel and axle to get to it.

2003 harley softail carb, modle where is the

If your bike is still equipped with the stock Keihen CV carb, there is an IDLE mxture screw but it is covered with an anti-tamper plug unless someone has removed it. If the anti-tamper plug has been removed, you turn the screw inward to lean the IDLE mixture, outward to richen the IDLE mixture. This screw only changes the IDLE mixture and has very little effect on the slow or high speed mixture. This mixture is controlled by jets inside the carb.

You didn't tell me why you wanted to know this information. If you are having a problem with the carb idling either too rich or too lean, you probably have something wrong with the carb that a simple turn of a screw is not going to remedy. The Keihen CV is a good carb and functions well when everything is right. I'm still running one on my 1994 FXDWG with over 30K miles on it and never has minute's trouble with it. If you're having a problem tell me what it is and maybe there's a simple solution for it.

I am installing a 96 thru 99 FXST dash in my 1973

I think you're going to run into a problem with this setup. I think Harley went to the "electronic" switch in 1996 and it has only three wires to it. Trying to figure out where you want the "six wire" system to connect to is going to be a job. I'd order the right switch for your bike. I'm pretty sure it will fit your dash but it won't have the round key. V-Twin makes the switches but they're Chinese junk. They'll last a while but they don't cost an arm and a leg. You may find a NOS switch but it ain't going to be cheap. I don't have a schematic for a bike that late, 96 to 99.

2000 harley davidson softail custom 3,500 miles on

It should not do this. Evidently, there is something amiss in the shifting portion of your transmission. I would try adjusting the shifter pawl first. This adjustment is not difficult but requires a specail tool with which to get onto the adjustet. The adjuster is on the left side of the transmission just forward of the shifter shaft lever. It is behind the outer primary which makes getting to it difficult without the special tool.

To check it, with the engine off, gently depress the shifter lever downwards like you are going to shift into low gear. Depress until you feel the shifter pawl engage the shifter drum cam and is beginning to shift the transmission into gear. In other words depress the shift lever down until you feel it bump but don't shift it into gear. Then, do the same thing lifting the lever up like you are going to shift into second. Does the lever travel the same distance downward as it does upwards. If not, the shifter pawl needs adjusting.

If this is not the problem, you may have to remove the transmission top cover. With the cover off, you can see the adjustment of the shifter pawl. You may have a problem with the shifter pawl itself or the detent ball may have a problem.

At any rate, it should be something that can be repaired without a major disassembly of the transmission.

I changed engine oil then when shifting only had

No, engine oil would have no effect on the transmission. When a big twin will not shift the problem is usually in the transmission. To test this, try to shift the transmission from first to fifth gear without the engine running. Rock the bike forward and backwards while trying to shif the gears. If you can go all the way up and back down, the transmission is alright.

If not and you can only shift from first to second, check the shift lever where it attaches to the shifter pawl shaft. Make sure that it is tight and not slipping. If it is tight and not slipping, it is probably your shifter pawl return spring.

With the transmission in neutral, lift the shifter lever with your hand until just before it shifts. Feel the spring tension. Now, depress the lever until just before it shifts into first gear. Does the spring tension feel the same in both directions? If not, the spring is probably broken. Do NOT start the engine if this is the case as further damage can be done to the transmission. To repair this requires a major disassembly of the transmission and is usually beyond the capability of those other than trained mechanics.

On my harley evo i had the heads milled .70 put an

If you had the heads milled 0.070", your valves are not too tight as a result of this. The travel in the tappets is 0.200". Factory pushrods are set so that the tappets run at midways so you should have 0.030" left. If you're running adjustable pushrods, which I would suggest in your case with the milled heads and the agressive camshaft, you should adjust the pushrods so that they compress the plunger in the tappet 0.100".

Now as for the spitting back in the carb, it sounds like the carb is jetted too lean. I would replace the main jet with the next size larger and try it again. If it still does it, go one more size. Never move anymore than one size at a time. You should be somewhere between a 74 and an 80 main jet, 29.5 or 31 on the slow jet. Of course, these are just guesses on my part. The only way to tell for sure is have the bike run up on a dyno and use an exhaust gas analyzer to measure the mixture.

New gas won't clean the fuel system. I see no way out except dismantling and cleaning the system with, ironically, carb cleaner. Then that might not do it completely.
