there is no code/s for your radio. the SY712 is the radio model number which is stamped on the front of radio. I do not recall any codes being needed. when we replace your type of radio, we give our parts dept. the VIN number and the radio number , which in your case is SY712. we get radio and put it in and it works. now with the NEW radios which have navigation build in, we have to jump into fire hoops to set those up, but with the older school radios, you put it in and it works.
Does it ask you anything like CODE number or error number?. I will suggest you to look in your user manual. Most of the time the code will be written in there or contact your local Mercedez Benz dealer. Good Luck!
I have heard that if you place the radio in the freezer overnight it will reset the code. I was told this about 10 years ago. This is not a windup. It actually worked for a friend of mine. I never tried it. Anyway if all else fails give it a go and let us know if it works.
Hi Jan, The codes are anti theft devices and are unique to each vehicle. If it is not recorded in the user manual (maybe a separate manual for the radio) ask your dealer for it. Regards and happy new year John
yes if you have the code and the display reads error then you need to reset the audio unit. to reset you can disconnect the neg and pos battery cables hold them so they are touching each other for approx 30 seconds. reinstall cables and the error message on the audio unit sounds be cleared and you can now enter you code. if it still reads error then there may be internal damage to the audio unit- hope this helps
If an audio unit with theft protection is disconnected from electrical power, you must enter a unique code number into the unit or it will not work. This code and the audio unit’s serial number are listed on the anti-theft ID card that comes with the vehicle. If this card is lost, you must obtain the audio unit serial number in order to get the radio code. Some newer vehicles allow you to retrieve the audio unit serial number electronically from the radio. Refer to your owner’s manual for the specific procedure (the following usually will work: Turn the radio off. Push the preset 1, preset 6, and power buttons at the same time, then quickly release.) . Some older vehicles (model year 2003 and older) require a visit to the dealer in order to retrieve the audio unit serial number. Once you have the audio unit serial number, you can call Auto Customer Service at (800) 999-1009 or have the dealer look up the radio code. Hope this helps at least to get you started on getting the code.
Well I had a 1990 Xj6 with an aftermarket cd-changer in the trunk and it didn't work, so when I took it to an audio specialist he said that it needed to be replaced. But what he did say is that most manufactures use the same connection cables for their products, ex. Sony plugs will work on all Sony cd-changers. I now have a 1994 Jaguar XJ6 and I have the same error code. I know that Jaguar installed Alpine CHM-S620 cd-changers. So in theroy you could go to an audio store and get the same cd-changer and it should have the same plugs so you wont need to rewire anything. I havent done it yet because I just bought the 1994.
