After my car stalled out on the interstate when i was going 70mph. it wont start now. the fuel pump is working. ive replaced the fuel filter and spark plugs. the engine turns over and tries to start but its not firing
car stalled out while pulling out on the highway the check engine light came on. auto zone said that the fuel was too rich i purchased fuel injector cleaner on their advice refilled tank with highger octane gas wich didnt fix the problem. replaced plugs and wires still didnt fix the problem. napa said it was the fuel injectors, so after replacing those now it wont even start.
At first, I thought 'coil pack'. But you said it tried to start. So that's out. You might check that you're getting spark just to be thorough.
Did it ever start again after the stall on the interstate?
If not, I'm leaning towards the timing chain.
What happens if your timing chain broke:
The timing chain no longer turns the cam(s)
The cam(s) no longer open/close the valves
The valves become stationary, remaining open or closed depending on the position of the cam(s)
If even one valve is open in a cylinder, no compression.
No compression, no start.
How do you confirm this without tearing apart your engine?
Do a compression test on all cylinders. If only one or two have compression (or one or more have zero compression), I'm tipping over towards the timing chain.

best thing to do is to hookup a fuel pressure gauge and monitor the fuel pump
then you would not change a good pump
odds that pump is failling are not that good
Check first the fuel filter if it needs replacing. If it is an EFI engine see if you can get a scanner to its diagnostic port to scan for errors. It may also be a bad fuel pump relay or wiring.
You might be experiencing a problem with your Vats security system. GM installed these anti theft systems on almost all of its cars in the 90's. (that little black chip in your key) They are known for turning off starters and injectors. Check out this link for symptoms, explanation of how it works, and solutions to the problem that you can do yourself. Hope this helps. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/
make sure to have a fuel pressure test done to it, it must to have a least 35 psi of pressure, also see if car is equiped with map sensor if it does unplug sensor and try to start the car, if start replace map sensor
