My jimmy won't shift into high gear or reverse, it just revs up. Other gears still work. This came on supers suddenly, drove it somewhere and it was fine, then when drove about 10 miles towards home, it started feeling like it wouldn't go. Pulled off the side of the road and it suddenly wouldn't go in reverse (even though it did when I pulled out of my space 10 mile earlier.) Is my transmission shot, or could there be another cause?

Does it also hold first gear longer that it should and then shift right from 1st to 3rd? It sounds like you broke the sun shell in the transmission. The trans will need to replaced or rebuilt.

My 6m70 is not working auto gear

This may be a faulty transmission control solenoid. As you know, automatic transmissions use pressurized hydraulic fluid to change gears. ... When this is faulty or not working properly, this can cause a delay in gear shifting or in some cases cause the car to not shift at all.

2000 ranger won’t move in drive but I can put it in a lower gear and up shift just fine and now I have to rev it real high to get it to go in reverse what could it be?

Most likelyTransmission seal leak somewhere. The more you push it like that ,the more parts it will take to rebuild and may cost you more.

My 2001 GMC Jimmy 4x4 Automatic with 84K miles. It winds when I put it in reverse and I think I only have 1st and 2nd gear. Additionally it revs high, like over 3000 rpm, delays and then eventually...

It winds up in 1st and then shifts right from 1st into 3rd. Then never shifts into 4th. Plus rev is gone. You broke the sun shell. The transmission will need to rebuilt or replaced.

2001 GMC Jimmy rough jump into 1st & 2nd gear after a stop

Had the same problem on my 2001 GMC Jimmy, but my reverse was also out!!!! Was the transmission!!! But it also did the same thing when starting from a dead stop! Had to rev up the RPMs to get it to shift, but once it got into the higher gears, it drove fine!!!! My mother also had a 2001 GM S-10 with the same problem and it was her tranny as well!!! Hope this is not your problem because it is not cheap........a friendly mechanic charged $1300 to replace the tranny with a used one with lower miles!! He also said that these models of GMs were notorious because the spline gear used in these models were made of a lower grade of metal and were prone to wear out prematurely!!!!! I also first suspected the shift sensor before I talked to a professional!!!!!
