There is a cylindrical switch under the dash above the brake pedal. This is the switch which is activated when you depress the brake pedal. It is probably out of adjustment. You adjust it by loostening the retaining nut on both sides of the mounting bracket and turning the higher one counter clockwise which will move the plunger farther away from the brake pedal arm. After turning the adjusting nut thghten the retaining nut. Remember a small adjustment makes a big difference so adjust a little and check to see that it operates correctly. The brake lights should activate when the brake pedal is depressed about1/2 inch.
Brake light switch on the pedal under the dash needs ajusted and may be replaced.....hope it helps
