Accidentally closed trunk without letting auto

Accidentally closed trunk on 1995 lincoln without letting auto latch lock it. now trunk will not close.

  • Anonymous Mar 10, 2010

I am selling teh car. Someone was looking at it and slammed the trunk instead of letting the automatic motor close it. Now the trunk will not close at all. You can hear and see the latch hook attched the the vehicle moving down, but trunk will not latch on it.

is the latch locked on the trunk?  and you just need put a screw driver in where it would latch to the bottom part of the trunk and open it with your key and pulling down at the same time

2001 Cad. ElDorado.Trunk wouldn't close.

There's a good chance the trunk latch has accidentally locked turn the ignition switch on and hit the trunk button you should be able to hear it click in the rear, wait a minute then "set" the trunk lid down and give it a little push and the auto-close will take over. I hope this helps. Take care.

AUTO TRUNK LID DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE

adjust the latch so that the catch will lock over properly. You may need to use a round bar ( screwdriver blade ) Place it under the latch and while pressing on the release button pull the latch out to the open position. The latch may be 1/2 closed before the boot is put down and the latch will not go any further

My Trunk Won't Complely Close All Of a Sudden. Is It the Fuse

There is a little latch right in the middle of your trunk lid. You need to push the little latch and then it will close. That little latch is in lock mode, switch it.

Our 2003 Lincoln Towncar trunk has suddenly began not shutting properly. When it closes, it does not fully close to a seal. Upon our troubleshooting we feel the mechanism which brings the trunk to a full...

Once the lid is latched there is a motor that pulls the latch assembly down to finish closing the lid.

I would check the latch mechinism make sure it's not moving around on you like the bolts have loosened or that anything is bent. Also there is a switch in the mechanism that activates it to finish closing as well, open the trunk and close the jaw on the lock with a screwdriver or something similar, and see if you can hear the motor run, if not I would place blame on the switch or the motor itself. And as always I would check for loose / broke wires or a bad ground in the immeidate vicinity of the mechanism.

I accidentally pulled the interior trunk release of 2008 volkswag

Try a screw driver, and release the trunk release at the same time and unsnap the latch, the latch thinks it is closed, because the latch never opened back up to allow the striker to go in it and trigger the latch to close, the latch is in closed mode, you will have to manually unlatch the latch sort of speak.

1996 Lincoln Town Car trunk motor won't shut off

under the trunk lip (directly where the latch goes into the lock jaws; remove the carpet so that you can see the side of the trunk latch; on the latch jaws (bottom) is a switch that contacts the latch (top) this switch is broken or, mis-aligned it opens (stops the trunk motor) when the latch contacts it.

1995 lincoln town car trunk will not automatically shut

There is a black flat switch handle immediately to the right side of the latch. Press that switch handle and the latch will make a noise and rise slightly. Then when you shut the deck, the switch activates and recesses, pulling the deck lid down to the fully closed position.

Hope this helps
