My 1999 mazda protege will not start.

Yesterday my car which is a 1999 Mazda protégé, starting chuckling and decreasing in speed when pressing on the gas. When I arrived at the stop light and then tried to accelerate, my car stop running. I tried to start the car but it will not turn over and start. The ignition fuse keeps blowing/popping, the fuel pump is not pumping. Just replaced the fuel pump but the car still will not start and keeps blowing the ignition/fuel injector fuse. Has anyone had this same or similar issue that can provide some insight?

Thanks in advance for all of your help

SOURCE: 2001 mazda protege will not start

well, with all that you have changed the only two possible things that are left PCM and the ECM....

Do you have an alarm system on this vehicle? If you purchased this car second hand it may have something that is inhibiting the engine from firing. From what you have told us here that would be where I would start looking.

I really hope this is helpfull

SOURCE: 1996 mazda mx6 ls cranks but won't start

you may need to run a wire from a keyed ignition source that has power while cranking and running to the fuel pump relay and bypass the pcm to test wether it will run, if it runs put a more permanent wire in place. Not too sure what tests youve done but it seems that fuel is what your focusing on so a quick test is too spray engine start up the intake tube to see if the engine trys to run if it does it eliminates a lot of other potential reasons for a no start condition. Also try squeezing the fuel return line to see if the added pressure will try to make engine run.Could be time to replace fuel pump etc anyway let me know how it goes good luck with it

SOURCE: Blown main fuse on 2003 mazda protege 5.

There are two bolts on the side of the fuse itself. Under the fuse box on each side. Unbolt those and it will come out.

Check connections etc at MAP sensor. If all good, replace it. Erase codes & retry. How's vehicle running, idling, any black smoke out tailpipe?

do a compression test on each cylinder. If you have good compression, the problem is either fuel or spark. grab a manual and a code scanner and a voltmeter and start diagnosing if you have good compression. If you have bad compression, find another engine.

1999 mazda protege when starting of at a slow speed the car starts to buck and o/d light will flash

The tube after the air filter might be cracked (Fix it). Next, you will see the Mass Airflow Sensor on the tube. Unplug that and see if you car runs differently (better while driving, worse while idling). If so then it is definitely the MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor). There is actually a recall on this part (at least, for the 2000 Protege). Also, try cleaning it (Mass Airflow Sensor Cleaner ONLY!) and plugging it back in. Change spark plugs (OEM only, nothing fancy). Also, some gas does this worse than others.
