1991 Ford Thunderbird "Idle Knob"

I have been having problems at many stops (stop lights, yeilding at corners, braking at stop signs at crossroads);
when I brake for a few seconds/minutes I then step on the gas and the car POOFS out on me;
I quickly put it into park/turn the key to re-start and shift it back into drive
and then again it dies out (either it stalls back out or I putt down the road to see how far it'll take me) crossing my fingers that the next light will be green for me.
From what a few people have mentioned in the past couple of days to me;
the "Idle Knob needs to be turned up";
my question is; Where do I locate this Idle Knob???
Please Help Me;
It is a 1991 Ford Thunderbird

Please & Thank You in advance!!!!

Michael

There may be an idle adjustment on the idle air control valve but what happens if you come to a stop and place trans in neutral before complete stop ???

point is that you could be looking at just an adjustment or possible internal transmission problem

Why does my 2005 monte carlo idle high at stop signs/stop lights but not when i start it only when driving then when i shut the car off and start it again the idle is normal

check if the condition occurs when you have your foot on the brake at stop signs-stop lights. It may be an air leak in the brake booster that is allowing air into the manifold and altering the mixture to lean.

I step on the brake pedal and the car stops running. It's a 1966 thunderbird with the 3 lights on each side. Can you tell me were to start looking for the wiring problem?

sounds like you have a brake booster failure, its sucking all the vacuum out of the motor, this isn't a wiring problem, do this,, have someone push on the brake with the car off, do the lights come on ? if so,, thats not a lighting problem,

Engine stalls at stop lights and stop signs

sounds like the torque converter lock up might not be disengaging. You might also want to check for engine vacuum leaks. Does engine idle smoothly when in park or nuetral ? if the idle is good I would suspect torque converter problem.
