Intermittently driving down the road the My 95 Honda Civic LX steering wheel is pulling to the left suddenly and then back to normal rapidly. When this occurs is usually headed down a hill without acceleration. Never feel it when i accelerate. Very scary, maybe the rack or pinion? The mechanic seems to baffled as well? Had the car for 10 years, this is a new one on me. Seems to have the power to fix itself when I take it to the mechanic??
After hitting a curb I have the same problem, rather frequently. The power unit is just jerking the wheel. There is also a loud popping noise near the steering column that happens once, followed by the wheel jerking, usually to the right and sometimes to the left. It is accompanied by a whirring noise, like the power steering pump makes when it is low on fluid. Good luck, to me and you.
Are you sure its not a certain road condition or certain area of road that you drive everyday and only notice it there to have a problem?road crown and abnormalties can cause very crazy problems and nothing wrong with car
