What can cause power not to get the the fuel pump on a 2001 pon aztek

How do you know there isn't enough electrical power? Low pressure might indicate a bad or weakening fuel pump or bad fuel pressure regulator or possibly clogged fuel injectors. If the fuel pump is getting the 12V via relay/ignition switch then it's not an electrical problem, but a fuel delivery problem probably caused by the things mentioned above.

2001 chevy blazer won't start, no fuel, replaced the filter, won't start, when primed runs until out of gas, I hear the fuel pump working, but no fuel, could the pump be bad and not enough...

Hi Ralph,
First let me say that Jeremy W's answer is absolutely correct.

However, I would like to take a moment to applaud you for your question. Most people would not bother to ask what the correct fuel pressure should be. YES! it is absolutely possible that the fuel pump motor could be spinning and not pumping fuel. This is WHY the fuel pressure should be checked, because this is the only true test that will tell you if your fuel pump is working correctly.

Then I would also like to add that if you find that the fuel pressure is correct, then this only eliminates your FUEL DELIVERY system. It does NOT eliminate your FUEL INJECTION system. It sounds pretty obvious that if it runs when you add fuel to the intake that the problem is definitely fuel-related though.

So if you find the fuel pressure to be OK, let us know and we can help you diagnose the fuel injection system.

You are going about this the right way---isolate the SYSTEM at fault first. Only then can you run pinpoint tests to determine the actual cause of the problem.

Drive on!

Low fuel pressure on neon 2003,have change fuel pump, but pressure is low can start if tank is full

Hi.

Check the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator. They are part of the same assembly and are located on top of the fuel pump. To replace the regulator # Disconnect fuel supply line at the Filter/Regulator nipple and releas locking spring tab (2 in diag.) on the regulator, then turn counterclockwise and pull out. To test regulator use a gauge like this in fuel lines:Pump Pressure Tester.
Pressure in 2003 should be 58psi (48 in 2001 engines). Pressure will drop of about ten psi when you start engine.

There is also an automatic shut down relay ASR. If problem is the ASR the pressure will go down when the relay cuts off power to pump. Read voltages and see if the problem is electrical first before going for the regulator.

I have hyundai accent 2003. While driving the engine died. Checked fuses, ignition, fuel pump(don't know if the pressure is right),starter is starting ok.

#1. Scan for trouble codes. If any, record them and let us know which ones they are.
#2. Connect a fuel gauge to the fuel delivery line at the engine... try to start the engine while monitoring fuel pressure... if there is fuel pressure (approx 35 to 50 lbs), the problem is elsewhere.
If no fuel pressure, check fuel pump relay, fuse, wiring to fuel pump connector (power & ground - use 12volt test light). If power & ground are present, problem is the pump (fuel filter is attached to the fuel pump inside the tank).
#3. Check injectors for injector pulse, check ignition coils for spark to spark plugs.
