Check exhaust smoke color when engine hot. If there is white smoke, there may be oil in the pipes. Means the valve seal is leaking oil into the cylinder. Another way to check is to look at the spark plug tips. If is full of soot like burnt oil then the oil is leaking into the cylinders.

If yours is E60 turbo, check the presence of residue oil in both the exhaust and intake turbine. If there is, the oil seals in the turbo housing is leaking oil. They do sell service kits for turbos.

I have a 2006 BMW 5 Series 530i 4d sedan, how can we adjust the idle speedrpm

Your engine is controlled by the PCM. The idle can be adjusted by entering the computer system using INPA with a K+DCan cable, or the BMW diagnostic system. If by chance it's too high, look for a vacuum leak. Generally speaking if you are careful, you can use a can of carb cleaner (carefully) by spraying a small amount at a time near the vacuum hoses and the intake manifold of a vehicle to find the leak. As the carb cleaner is drawn into the engine the car will change idle speed to help you zero in on any leaks. Too low then there must be a fuel/air issue and you should have a code present. Good luck:)

Oil leak in 2001 bmw 530i , middle towards front? About a quart a month ?

Look for the location where the gasket is leaking. Get someone to remove it and replace it. This is affordable if you buy a new gasket at a local auto store and get someone to do it. The real problem here is that your leak is so significant that you need to be constantly checking and adding oil or you will ruin your entire engine.

Just bought a 1995 bmw 530i 5speed 136,000 miles has a oil leak but can't find it but it's leaving quarts of oil on the ground can anyone help plz asap

Try changing the oil (probably due) and then cleaning the area of the filter and the plug and also clean the plug off as well sometimes people carelessly change oil and don't clean it and, leave something on the surface and the filter or plug does not seal and then leaks. Place a flattened box underneath after and see if and where it is leaking. If all else fails try bars stop leak

2002 530i "OIL" microfilter - DOES THIS PART EXIST?

THe microfilter is just the filter. The oil filter is available off the shelf at advance auto parts. It's the original equipment German brand, "Mann". It's about $12.00. The price of $300 you were quoted is more the range for a transmission oil change, not engine oil.

Don't be confused about the word"microfilter". Again, it just means the filter, same as any other car.

Bmw 530i model 2001 230000 km i have to add l liter oil per 10 day due to oil leak. no oil spot under car but the mechanic told me the rubber between engine and gear box is leaking and no smoke. can...

STP won't stop the leak, only disassembling and replacing the seal. However, the car could be burning oil but the catalytic converter will complete the combustion of the 'smoke' to water (H2O) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

At 230,000 KM, I wouldn't be surprised that the rings are worn or the valve seals are leaking internally.

2006 BMW 530i with a slow/small oil leak.

Common oil leaking areas on that engine is the plastic lid on the oil filter, and the gasket in between the oil filter adapter and the engine block.I would suggest you take it to a qualified shop and have them diagnose the oil leak.
