We have a 2005 GMC Yukon. Dealer had car for more

We have a 2005 GMC Yukon. Dealer had car for more than three weeks..symptom...boiling white smoke when we turned car on. Worse after sitting for a few hours. Worse if we drive faster MPH - 65 - 70 into town which is 38 miles one way. After cleaning the left valve cover got car back from dealer who swore that holes for draining oil back into engine were stopped up. Drove car home, and when I restarted had same probl. Now, have car with local ASE certified mechanic who has found that oil is ''held on top of engine''. ''Oil being held in manifold ??''. Car still not fixed, and everybody is stumped.!! There is an engineering flaw with the valve cover, I had mine replaced with an updated valve cover at the dealer and it solved the problem.

2005Danali youkon xl 6.litre...nu water pump n thermastat ,no heater...car over heats.

First start with making sure the engine is purged of air, and you have no thick white smoke coming from the exhaust in back. 2 sure signs of a blown head gasket are, thick white smoke. next is , leave the cap off the reservoir/radiator. If it throws the coolant back out at start up, it's bad. Not there, next is to do a compression test on the cylinders. Low or no compression is bad gaskets also. These are the first things to check and do. Before just throwing money at good parts.

2005 GMC Yukon - Turn off check engine light

Use an OBD2 code reader (you can buy them at WalMart). If there are no codes stored there is a reset function that will turn off the light. If the light comes back on after that, then there is another problem.

Coolant loss no leak

hi.

Check compression. If the leak is internal, then the most common cause is the head gasket. Water (or coolant) leaks internally through the worn head gasket reaching the cylinders where it gets vaporized. Symptoms are coolant fluid level going down, bad performance, loss of compression, overheating, white smoke because of vaporized coolant from exhaust, traces of fuel in coolant reservoir etc.

If head gasket is Ok and there is no overheating, then the leak is external. Check pump, radiator and coolant lines.

Regards.

Ginko.

My 08 GMC Yukon XL died 3 weeks after I drove it off the lot brand new! They said they replaced the computer but in the last two years its been in the shop 8 times for the same symptoms yours has... Tried to go the lemon law route and they gave me 5k towards another car but I had to pay the lawyer half of that. The problem now is that the service records show how many times its been in the shop so I cant sell or trade it without getting screwed!!!

2005 gmc yukon 5.3l burn quart of oil every 2000 miles

Is it really burning blue smoke out the exhaust or leaking out all the wrong places like valve covera and front and rear seals? There is no solution here except find out the cause of the loss and fix it.

I am not too aufait with these types of vehicles, but I can ssure youo that trouble codes can be found online. Go into Google.com and enter GMC trouble codes. I can't from where I am because the sites are currently blocked from viewing.

Despite that, what are the symptoms the vehicle is giving with these trouble codes?
