Read the codes stored in the RCU. That may give you an idea as to whaere the issue is.

By RCU u mean diagnostic machine? If yes I did, the code is P0380 saying preheat plugs circ.

In that case, I would check the plugs are actually heating and if not, work back towards the power supply to find the issue.

SOURCE: glow plug light flashes on97 tdi sharan

on some diesel engines the glow plugs will cycle after the engine is started. it does sound like your glow plugs are not all working that would cause the hard start and excessive smoke when it does start.

sounds like a bad sensor. the glow plugs should stay on long enough to reach a certain temperature, especially when it's cold. So turning off after 1 second is not nearly enough. There may be a problem with sensing the temperature of the glow plugs.

hi the air flow meter measure air flow to intake therefor it could be meter or 1st thing to check being in africa ? remove the air filter and check the underside of the element as this iswhere dust etc is collected and prevented entering the air induction of engine so if dirty do not try cleaning as this is waste of time renew element then you will have unresticted good air flow hope this helps

I have a Nissan NP 200 1.5 Dci that will not start with the starter being cranked, but will start when kick started.

Has the ignition switch been tested? It is a known problem that the switch drops out the ignition circuit power during cranking, result is a crank and no start. The switch is what is turned by the ignition key cylinder.

2.7tdi newish heat plugs, glow light stays on ,smokes on cranking ,won't start

the glow plug circuit may be faulty, check glow relay and timer function, or connection to glow plugs, the glow plugs may also be faulty, if all is well with them, then you may want to check the fuel injection pump it may have a worn hydraulic head. To start you can try some quick start fluid but disconnect the glow plugs first,
