2002 Landrover Freelander, Serengeti model. HDC light permanently on, and handling is certainly 4WD when doing low-speed tight turns.

The vehicle has had the indicator light for HDC on since we did a kludge job hardwiring horn to battery and installing a separate switch on the dash. The extra wire is a little tight against the other cable bundles up under the steering wheel, but it strikes me as unlikely as to that being the cause. No amount of fiddling with the actual HDC button on the gear-stick has worked to switch the mode off... Any advice on possible causes or fixes to allow selection of 4WD when required would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: 4 wheel drive wont swich back to 2 wheel drive

After reading some of the fixes here and on other forums,i bought a vacuum actuator and a transfer case switch. My mechanic came to fit these today, replaced the actuator and it didnt do anything.Turned out the old one was o.k..He couldnt find where the case switch went ,so he started tracing the vacuum pipes.
Guess what? he found not one ,but two broken pipes.he replaced/shortened these and hey presto,i now have 2,4 hi,4low and auto all working again.
It may be worth checking the vacumm pipes before buying other parts.
Just a thought...........

SOURCE: Horn not working in Hyundai Trajet

this problem is caused by the rotating contact under the steering wheel that connects the horn (and airbag) button to the steering column wiring harness, this contact is commonly called the clock-spring ribbon contact. WARNING! Before u replace this u must remove the wheel and the airbag module on the wheel, the airbag must be disarmed, the easiest way is to disconnect the battery 30 minutes prior to starting work, this always ample time for the system control circuit capacitors to drain down.

SOURCE: Would appreciate help for a Toyota Corolla 2007 non-working horn.

If the horn works with direct connection, and fuse, relay, and circuit breaker are all good, it's the switch in the steering wheel. If it is anything like the chrysler auto's, the switch and the air bag module is all one unit, can't replace just the switch, the whole thing, and it's about $700 to $800 for those units, at least it is here, and can only get them at a dealer.

SOURCE: I have a 1969 Ford f100 3 speed manual trans,

i had a '71 dodge with three-on-the-tree that experienced binding and the only way to fix it is to replace worn parts. as for the lights, find out which connetor supplies power. perhaps it is faulty or loose. also, there may be a separate fuse located on or near the instument cluster specifically for that application.

Feels like rear diff is permanently locked on 2002 a6 allroad . particularly obvios on tight turns at low speed

This may not help but it may.Put the car in 4wd and reverse slowly. At the same time switch the car to 2wd.Give the throttle a small rev and apply the brake as you put it in 2wd.Sometimes the transfer case 'winds up' and can,t release 4wd.This may or may not help.Hope it does.

2002 LandRover Freelander HSE- Turns but doesn't start/fire up

It does sound like electrical problems. When it does this you need to know is it not getting fire, fuel or both. The alarm could be a problem, engine control, or a simple ground strap loose. Make sure you battery terminals are clean and connections are tight. The last time i saw this happen it turned out to be a wiring issue because someone had tapped into the factory alarm harness and the wiring was done very poorly which was causing the problem.

Landrover Freelander Serengeti Diesel 2.0 2003

Sounds like the wheel balance is out on the new tyres, if the rears are out of balance expect the car to shake, if the fronts are out expect the steering to shake.
Best thing is to take it back and have the balance checked. Also good idea to stay with the same make and type of tyres all round.

Chris
