Make sure that the oil is not coming in from the air tube that connects to the valve cover vent.

SOURCE: idle at 1500 to 2000 rpm

Most likely the throttle body gasket (between the throttle body and the intake manifold) is leaking.

SOURCE: Leaking windshield washer fluid resivour

I had a similar problem. My first thought was that the reservoir was leaking but there were no holes in it. Then I noticed that the fluid hose had come off the hose junction fitting (above the passenger side fender -- hard to reach without taking off the panels) and fluid was siphoning out. Later on the hose came off again, and so when I had it in the shop for some other maintenance I asked the guys to look at it. They told me there was a pressure problem with the reservoir pump which was causing the hose to disconnect. They changed out the pump and it's been working fine now.

SOURCE: Mazda Tribute. Water leak under driver's feet. Had

Generally, water on the passenger side is the A/C drain tube.
Driver side generally means widshield or sun roof seal leak.
Did you wash the Mazda or did it rain prior to puddling?
Before disassembling the windshield seal, test ... with a water hose (Remove floormat and place a towel on newspapers on the driver's side floor).
There is a "smoke" test" that can more accurately find the leak. See if you local AutoZone will rent one (maybe free) to you.

Testimonial: "Thanks. Relieved it's not likely to be a/c. It has just rained for the first time for a month so will investigate further."

2006 Mazda Tribute 2.3L. HELP ME WITH THIS TRIBUTE FROM H*LL

Sitting for that long is bound to cause issues unfortunately. Clean the Throttle Body and MAF, clean or replace the Idle Air Control. Surging is often caused by air entering the system where is shouldn't and the ECM tries to compensate and causes the surging.

Then take it for a good thrash down the highway for an hour!

The IAC (Idle Air Control) valve on the 2006 Mazda Tribute 2.3L is located on the throttle body. It is located on the side of the throttle body, near the top.

I have a 2003 Mazda Tribute ES v6 when I put it in drive it won't move anywhere but I hear a vacuum leak when it is idling and I can get it to go reverse it shut off

Trace where the vacuum leak is coming from ,check the fluid level in the trans.top up to correct level, you an find a air leak by spraying throttle body cleaner or W.D 40 around the inlet manifold area.If it won,t go forward after that see a transmission rebuilder.

Sounds like air is shooting out when accelerating. Could this be an exhaust leak? Plugs, coils, hoses seem fine. Noise is coming from passenger side under engine sounds like.

yes could very well be an exhaust leak.but that should be kinda loud and annoying..also u could have a slight whistling sound coming from ur air intake hose coming from air cleaner box to ur intake or throttle body or ur air inlet goin to the motor. when the motor is accelerated it would produce a high pitch sound like a whistling .hope this can help

Bad oil leak near front. Mechanic now says the leak is from where the engine was glued together in factory? Ever heard of a motor in the tribute being glued together?

The car companies now use special high-strength uv light cured adhesives on aluminum engine to crankcase seals. What he meant is you need a new
front crankshaft seal.

The idle is staying high or sticks and when coming to a stop wont go down

make sure there are no vaccum leaks, if no leaks found then may have a bad idle air control valve,

My 2006 Tribute stalls or runs rough when I come to a stop. It there a sensor that controls the idle?

yes it sounds like your iac valve is sticking, you can get one from any parts house or your local dealer and it is very easy to replace. it sets on top of the intake next to the throttle body and only has 2 screws that hold it in don't worry about a gasket because it is an o'ring on that modle and doesn't need to be replaced

2002 Mazda Tribute V6 difficult to start.

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE IAC VALE OR IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE IS BAD, WHAT YOU CAN DO IS TAP ON THE VALVE. IT IS LOCATED ON THE INTAKE RIGHT BEHIND THE THROTTLE BODY, JUST TAP ON THE SILVER PART WITH THE BACK OF A SCREW DRIVER A COUPLE OF TIMES. THIS SHOULD UNSTICK THE VALVE AND YOUR TRIBUTE SHOULD RUN. THEN IT IS JUST A MATTER OF REPLACING THE VALVE. YOU CAN GET THEM FROM ANY AUTO PARTS HOUSE.

Mazda tribute 2002 stalling

1. will it stay running if you foot is sligtly on the gas.
if so common problem it the IAC valve located on top of the throttle body. it controls ait into the engine when throttle is closed.
2. do you hear loud fog horn like sound or hissing. this could indicate a vaccum leak.
3. are there any performance problems while driving.

my best guess would be the IAC (idle air control) valve
