No such animal no kill switch --no inertia --and no stall switch --you have fuses and relays

Testimonial: "Thanks john,...don't know much about this car...don't even have it. Two different shops have had it for a total of 12 weeks and they can't figure out why it won't run"

SOURCE: my 1993 oldsmobile achieva when I slow down sputtthe car cuts off

i have the exact same car. And after a lot of searching, found the EXACT cause for this. Its your TCC switch (torque converter clutch switch). It has somethign to do with your transmission, and kicking the car into overdrive at certain speeds for fuel economy. Anyway, mine would stall out after driving for more than 15- 20 minutes, especially at highway speeds, which when you think about it - is the speed if you had a manual/stick - you would be shifting into the highest gear. Well, this chip or whatever it is basically gets "stuck" in high gear. And when you come to a stop, its like trying to get going in 4th gear on a manual from a dead stop. NOT happening!  I checked with a few people and did some searchign online - and found out all you have to do is unplug the wire leading into your transmission  (not a car guy so I'm not sure exactlyif that's what its plugged to, but on mine ,same model and year as yours, it was blue on the very front on the engine way down dead center almost if you're standing in the front of the car looking down). I believe it was a 4pin connector when you unplug it, but I'd have to go doublecheck. NOthing at all bad happens from donig this - all it does is you lose about 3-5 mpg when you drive. I still get 25-27 mpg. If your car isn't in awesome codition and you dont want the headache of some mechanic taking everything apart to get inside the transmission to replace a dumb chip that just kicks your car into overdrive, I'd go this route. Worked for me.  I have checked all over online - and everyone who had this problem and unplugged it, had no problems ever. NO side effects. One guy says he's run up 100,000 miles since then and still runs like a top! If you need more info or whatever - email me. I dont mind. I'd love to know I'm helping someone out so they dont have to deal with it as long as I did!  [email protected]

SOURCE: Audi 100s 1993 cranks doesn,t start, turns over no

assuming fuse and fuel relay are good, if need them, get them from junk yard for nothing, check if you getting fuel and proper pressure and sparks, by unplugging the fuel line from the filter and point the hose downward away from face and have a friend turn the engine over, no fuel come out of the line, crank sensor or fuel pump faulty, if fuel pump is good than the crank sensor is faulty. crank sensor tell computer to turn on the fuel pump. to check sparks, pull one plug and ground it have a friend turn engine over see if you getting sparks, no sparks, check cap contact, rotor contact and wires, if it looks good, check the coil, make sure you getting power to it and have 12v output, if good, cam sensor is faulty, cam sensor work the same way as crank sensor but tell computer to send sparks to the distributor. Common problems with older european car, crank and cam sensor tend to go bad due to ages and heat abuse.

My 1993 Achieva stalls under a load, and once restarted will repeat the stalling-what is the problem, and can I fix it

There is no one answer, it could be a lot of things causing it.

can you restart it immediately? If it takes several minutes or more before it can start, it could be an ignition problem, so you should check for spark on a plug wire right after it stalls.

If you can restart it right away, it might be a fueling problem, so you should test the fuel pressure. Autozone and others rent or loan fuel pressure testers. Fuel pressure is very important in fuel injected vehicles. If pressure is too low, fuel won't go through the injectors in sufficient volume.

If fuel pressure is at specifications, you need to check for trouble codes. This is easy to do on your 1993, doesn't require an expensive code reader or scanner- just a jumper wire or paper clip. Go here for information on how to do it and what the codes refer to:http://www.2carpros.com/articles/buick-cadillac-chevy-gmc-oldsmobile-pontiac-gm-1983-1995-obd1-code-definitions-and-retrieval-method.

1993 olds achieva-gears won't shift-what sensors on transmission

Had this problem when I rebuilt my engine. Turns out, that I had plugged back in a sensor that was previously unplugged. There is a known manufacturer's defect on some Achievas where a sensor on the transmission was mounted upside-down. Symptoms caused by this are primarily the car staying in gear (and thus stalling) when stopped, and failing to downshift while slowing down. Just unplug this pesky sensor, located roughly underneath and to the battery side of the throttle body. Be careful, though, because I don't know if running long term in this configuration will lead to transmission damage (although my transmission doesn't show any signs of troubles now that the thing is disconnected.)
