SOURCE: oil and filter changing for 08 sienna. How complicated is it?

You still have to drain the engine oil from the drain plug in the oil pan, and I recommend replacing the drain plug gasket.
If you buy a filter from Toyota, it actually comes with instructions on exactly what to do. There is a 3/8" recess in the bottom of the filter housing, when you put a 3/8" extension and a ratchet in this and remove it, there should be a plastic piece that comes with the filter to pop into the bottom of the housing and drain the oil. replace the o-ring and reinstall the housing drain plug.

You can get a filter-cup tool from Pep Boys or local auto parts tools sections that will fit the filter housing. Use the cup with a ratchet and extension to remove the filter housing. replace the filter cartridge and the o-ring. Make sure to lubricate o-ring, they will snag! Reinstall and add 6.4 qts of oil

SOURCE: '03 Toyota Corolla 1,4 VVT-i 4ZZ engine idle rpm

Check your idle speed control valve situated at the bottom of the throttle body. Sometimes the valve sticks and will make the engine rev high or low at idle and the ECU can't adjust it properly.

SOURCE: 2001 toyota sienna power mirror/ clock not working...

There is an interior fuse panel located on the left side of the steering column, behind the "change compartment". You just pull it out and you will see a fuse diagram on the back. The fuse you want to replace is the fuse for the cigarette lighter, it is a 15 amp fuse and is located on the bottom right.

As far as I can tell, the owner manual makes no mention of this interior fuse panel and furthermore the actual fuse for the cigarrette lighter doesn't mention that it is connected to the clock and the power mirror.

Variable cam timing

should not have had pressure not running...test by unplugging tyhe vvt selonoid when running.it should cause a miss fire @ 2000 rpm if no change the vvt control selonoid is faulty. verify that the hub on the cam shaft is lined properly with cam sprocket.look at back side of hub there is a "tab" that should be set into a "notch" of the sprocket.also on side of cyl head should be a small plate or plug container an oil strainer pre-vvt control.it needs to be clean and not clogged with carbon deposits. good luck. farfanugin

Need to know what the code is on 2003 toyato corolla- p1349vvt. check engine and oil light comes on.

Variable valve timing (vvt-i) works with oil pressure, if your oil is dirty or low it would set this code, if somebody did a big engine job and use too much silicon base gasket that gasket can travel all the way to oct filter and clog it, starving the vvt gear.

solution check the oil level and condition
Low put some to the right level.
dirty and heavy do a couple oil changes, code still there, ask your mechanic to clean the oct filter and check the vvt actuator for debris .

I have a 2000 Avalon and have gotten a Check Engine code of P1354. The Jiffy Lube folks tell me this is something to do with the VVI Malfunction Bank 2. How serious is this? Can I drive the car for a week...

The vvt-i system control timing with the help of the oil pressure if you are pass due, or skip oil changes, or oil is low due to a leak, or improper fill during an oil change, or simple the vvt-i oil actuator, or the vvt-i oil gear are faulty this code may be set.

What you can do. Make sure the oil is ok, the oil filter is new, now disconnect the battery for 10 seconds. code is clear if code comeback is time to let the dealer take care of the problem they have bidirectional scanners to activate this devices and tell you the best course of action.

I was in my sister's 2004 Chevy Trailblazer and it was acting up. First the service engine soon light has been on. I was driving and the engine started revving up and down then it stopped accelerating...

The VVT (variable Valve Timing) solenoid may be dirty and will need to be cleaned or replaced. Poor maintenance (lack of oil change) will cause carbon and sludge to accumulate on the VVT screen causing the VVT to stick which will cause the issues your experiencing.
You may get lucky by trying to clean the VVT by adding a can of Seafoam to your engine oil and running it in there for the next 250 miles and then giving the Trailblazer oil and filter service with the recommended 5W-30 weight oil, anything heavier may cause the VVT not to function correctly as it is now.
Start with the simple and add Seafoam (Auto Zone, Part Source) carries the product. Service the engine oil after 250 miles, and at worst you may have to replace the VVT solenoid which is simple to do. Keep me posted if you have to replace the VVT.
Thank you for using fixya and be safe

VOLVO S40 VVT VALVE

Very easy to swap the vvt valve, but that will not guarantee to rectify the problem, more than likely it will be the vvt pulley/timing unit, this will involve the timing belt coming off.
The vvt valve is located under the upper timing cover, remove the cover and you will see the valve situated on top of the head, undo the connector and remove the 4 bolts and the valve will come off, alittle bit of oil will come out on removal.
remove gasket and ensure the area is clean.
Re-fitting is opposite procedure, ensure a new gasket is fitted.
Hope this helps
