Hello Jason, I would say it does not have enough oil pressure or maybe the oil sender unit is bad. Did you check the oil level?

  • Anonymous Apr 01, 2015

yeah I check the oil level and I added half a quart just to be sure it was a tiny bit low, it only comes on when it idles or when I slow down while I'm driving and it doesn't come on and stay on it just flickers

Hello againJason, I suggest you install an auxiliary pressure gauge to see what the oil pressure is at idle. If it is 15 psi or better, I would install a new oil sender unit.

SOURCE: 2001 Mazda Tribute No transmission-- it will

The plastic rod ends on the cable assy that goes between the shft lever in the colum and the transmittion are worn. I change the cable for the same reason last week and that fixed the problem.
The cable part number is MZEC01-46-500E the price from the Mazda dealer was US $ 64.98. Is easy to change all you need is aphillips screw driver & pliers

SOURCE: 2001 mazda tribute battery light comes on and goes

Probably a loose wire on the battery terminals. Otherwise corrosion on the battery terminals or your alternator is starting to go bad.,
