How old is the battery? some survive 5 year, some 8, but that is about the max. Then you always should check if there is still enough fluid in the battery. Don't use normal water. distilled water only.

May want to try connecting the negative cable last. Also, try locking and unlocking the door with the key or disarming the security system. The security system may have caused the old battery to go bad if it has a malfunction.
Try closing the doors then hook up jumper cables, let it sit for a couple of minutes with cables hooked up and other vehicle running. Then try to use key to turn off alarm before opening door. Then try to start it.
You need to leave the charger on while the alarm is going off and put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off 5 times the alarm should turn off . Don't try to start it just turn it on till the light in the dash come on the turn it . 3 to 5 time of this should reset the alarm.
This is a real common problem. You have an alarm, however if it goes off it may keep going untill your battery is dead. No big problem, you just need to either jump your battery with another car or hook up a battery charger to the battery. Easy fix.
