Where is the roof motor

Check the cable to see if it's not broken

check the parcel shelf has been refitted correctly as there is a micro switch on the left hand side that stops the second stage of the roof from opening

You are probably low on fluid.
Behind the rear seat is your motor/pump/reservoir combination.
With the top down, fill the reservoir to overflowing with ATF.
Cycle the system a few times and repeat.
Do this till the reservoir will take no more fluid.
Check the lines and cylinders for leaks. The fluid must be going somewhere.
If you replace any lines or cylinders, always do them in pairs.

SOURCE: on my 1998 mercedes benz sl600 i cant get the convertable top to open. i have replaced two of the struts for the roof and now my roof wont open. is there a way to resync the roof or am i just doing so

The top is controlled by you guessed it a computer module, have the dealer test that with a scan tool. The top is very complex in the control end, not simple like the old Mustangs I used to fix

You have to put hydraulic fluid (power steering fluid will work too) in the convertible top motor. The motor is in the trunk, on the left hand side, under a panel. Pull the panel off and that is the electric motor for the top. You'll see a reservoir where you put in the fluid. Put in the fluid and you'll be good to go.
