Is there a relay that i could have shorted out?

Truck died and would not crank. I tried boosting, but still not enough to crank. we added an car with cables to the ones already on it. after a while we tried, it turned, but would not crank enough to start. we moved cables and waited more. now there is no power at all getting to anything, what could I have shorted out?

Your starter may be the problem. When a starter goes bad, it will not turn. Check all the cables from the battery to the starter to see if nothing shorted out and burned.

SOURCE: 2001 GMC Sierra 2500 4WD Starting problems

Now is the time to diagnose it, no one can diagnose a no start problem on a vehicle that runs, Now someone can easily put an OBDII scan tool on it and in about 5 min know what is keeping it from running, Now Im not talking about a $20 code reader Im talkin about a professional OBDII bidirectional scan tool with a scan tool a qualified tech can watch the crank sensor and cam sensor he can monitor fuel pressure with a fuel pressure guage he can fix it much cheaper than anyone can by just changing parts from a friends previous experiences. Sorry this is the easiest least expensive way

Thatttttt's alternatorrrrr.

Your alternator charges your battery. No alternator, no battery charge.

SOURCE: truck dying

You will have to go to the old way of finding out where to start locating the problemm. Gas supply or ignition ( spark) problem. What was missing when it quit.? Gas or spark or water.

I did an oil change an tune up for 83 Buick lesabre with not enough oil. All connections hooked up except alternator. But it won't crank. What should I do? An it turns slow when try to crank

1ST make sure the oil level is up to spec. make sure all connections are connected & either charge the battery or boost the battery. If a boost doesn't do the trick, try leaving the booster cables hooked up with the other car running for a few minutes & try starting again. Try that battery charge next. If no luck, u may need a batt, Have a battery voltage test done / load test & starter draw test when fully charged. If u get it running have the alternator checked & ckd for shorts. Good Luck

What can this issue be? Pls I charged the battery for over two hours and it still won't start even if I have jumpers attached?

Gary, Do you mean car will not start, or do you mean it will not turn over. If it does not turn over, even with boost, battery cables bad, starter relay or fuse bad, or starter defective.

1994 Mazda PU Truck sometimes won't start if shutoff for 5-10 minutes.. Several tries later, it will start. spark seems ok, it gets enough fuel for a second, but then poops out. fuel pump shuto

Well there is no shutoff relay, but there is a fuel pump relay that powers the pump.
I would check it first. The computer grounds the relay for 3 seconds when you crank the engine to boost fuel pressure. Once the engine starts the pump is powered only if you have oil pressure.

04 mustang 6 cyl. wont crank, think its the fuel relay switch or punp. the relay switch makes a buzzing when tapped on ?

How old is your battery? if it is 8 years old, I'm betting on the battery being dead. They can die rather suddenly, has happened to me twice. Battery will have enough power to run lights and such, but not crank the engine/power up the FI system. Otherwise, could be the relay.

I have a brand new battery and a brand new alternator in my 1989 Toyota Camry. i recently got a tune up, new breaks, and also an oil change, BUT for some reason my car randomly doesn't want to start, but...

It could be your starter going bad. The added boost from the jumpstart may give it enough cranking amps to overcome the starter failure for a short time.

My 1994 buick regal will die with no regularity. when I boost it and remove any of the jumper cables it will die. Mechanic says alternator, battery and starter are good and the crank sensor is bad--what...

Odds are very good if once you remove the jumper cables it dies that it is the alternator. Once running, the car runs directly off the alternator so if it's quitting, it's a sign the alternator isn't puttling out enough amperage.

Starts with boost then car dies after 1 km and won't start

once the car is started it runs off the alternator .. so even if your battery is bad the alternator will still run the car .. so it looks lilke your alternator is bad .. when you jumped the car you charged the battery a little but not enough to keep it going since the alternator is not charging . if you hook up a charger overnight then you might be able to run it long enough to get somewhere (garage) .. try to drive when you dont need lights .. those will run down the battery in a short time .. if you have a volt meter then the battery should read about 13.8 to 14.2 volts when the alternator is working properly (car running) .. if it reads lower (like 12volts or less) then the alternator is not charging .. some auto parts stores will test your system free ..
