Hello, I have a 1999 Volvo s70 2.4 engine my check engine light is on and I have a yellow arrow flashing. After check engine scan im getting back codes P1618 and also P0717 what does this mean?

This is a gearbox issue. Both codes relate to the transmission. Specifically P0717 is to do with an engine speed sensor that lets the gearbox know when it is supposed to change gear. Have you had any work done recently. They might have disturbed some wiring causing this problem. Replacing this sensor is not a simple task as i believe it is inside the box so requires the gearbox to be removed. There are some good Volvo forums on the internet that will be able to help you and point you to a local independent Volvo garage rather than a main dealer to keep costs down.

2007 volvo S40 will not start after replacing alternator belt, smell gas after trying to start

I am thinking faulty injectors and/or excessive fuel pressure in the fuel manifold . Run fault codes again ensuring that the cables used and the procedure to connect is adhered to as there will be a fault code recorded but not being read

Volvo v70 2008, warning message dstc service required comes on intermittently

Dear Sir the Fault you have is all about your Dynamic Stability and Traction Control. The sensors fitted on your wheels which are checking the wheel speed usually get gummed with road dirt and debris and cause error to trigger. Ask Volvo mechanic to clean the sensors and the problem would resolved.

Volvo xc90, warning comes up ''engine service required'' then loss of power until warning goes off.

Hi.

The loss of power can be caused by a big number of different fault. A code reading would be a good first step to troubleshoot the fault.

If the check engine light comes on, then engine faults have been detected and related codes have been stored in the vehicle's computer modules. Primary DTC (trouble codes) are stored in the main computer (called ECU). Such codes can be read using an OBDII code reader connected to the socket under the dash. Here a code reader: U480 Can Bus.

A code scanning can also be performed at the dealer place or at any garage. In US it can be done for free at the nearest Autozone.

If there is no indicative codes also test the fuel pump and pressure regulator by reading fuel pressure with a gauge connected to the port on the fuel rail. Here the tool: Wilmar W80594.

Regards.

2001 Volvo V70 with sun roof...car sitting in heavy rain..return to car both front drivers side and passenger side footwells were full of water. What could cause this..no the windows were not open or the...

Not familiar with the Volvo, but many cars (Toyota, Lexus, Acura, Honda, etc.) have drain holes at the corners of the sun roof assembly. These holes allow water that gets past the sunroof gasket to drain through tubes that carry the water to the bottom of the car, where it exits the car.

These drain holes are prone to clogging. If the Volvo setup is like those cars mentioned, you can see the front drain holes by opening the sunroof and looking closely at the two front corners of the assembly that holds the sunroof. I have used plastic weedeater line to open up these lines. Compressed air can also be used.

Any Autozone or O'reilly auto parts can do the fault code testing for free. Do that fault code first and post the fault codes you get from the test.

if you take the car to the shop for the same problem (3 times in one year) I believe it is a lemon and they have to buy it back.
it may need to be more times but I think it is 3 in a year. there may be more info if you search for "lemon law" in your state. hope this helps although the issue remains,
