You need to have the ignition control module checked (It's inside the distributor)

Through your own admission, you need
to go to a repair shop, which one would
assume, you always go to

Check to be sure the new battery is a good new one, they set on the shelves for some time ya know. Then make sure it goes in the correct direction.Then refer to your owners manual if it needs reprogrammed.

You can take out the spark plugs, keep track of your spark plug wire order, try to crank it over see if the engine turns over.


Check voltage on your new battery, some need to charge when new.

check for corrosion on the battery and starter cables.

does it turn over or does it do nothing at all

CODE P1637 - GENERATOR L TERMINAL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION CONDITIONS. CODE P1638 - GENERATOR F TERMINAL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION CONDITIONS. POSSIBLE CAUSES FAULTY GENERATOR WHICH IS ALTERNATOR.CHECK GENERATOR POWER FEED WIRES AND CHECK GENERATOR VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES FOR LOOSENESS AND DAMAGE. MAKE SURE BATTERY VOLTS ARE 12.6 VOLTS. IF BATTERY WEAK DUE BAD GENERATOR VECHICLE WONT START.

Try checking the engine fuse.
If it isn't the fuse then it is possibly the solenoid, it is attached to the starter motor in most cars. It is also often a non replaceable part and must be changed with the starter motor.
However you can often have your starter motor refurbished.

Now you have a good battery & a starter that turns over the motor

Have you cycled the key on & off with a fuel pressure gauge on the
fuel rail?

Do you have a fuel filter that isn't over 3 or 4 years old?

Have you checked for spark while cranking ? Use an old plug on the wires,
if you have ignition wires,don't ground the wire without resistance

If you removed the ducting & MAF Sensor it won't start
