How to remove tire from a A6 Quattro 1996?

A Friend left me his 1996 Audi A6 Quattro car but after a week in the Garage the back driver side tire went flat. I want to take it off and get it fixed for him but I want to make sure I do it correctly. I have taken the nuts off but it will not slide off. What can I do from this point to get the tire off?

Tap around the edges of the tire with a rubber mallet. But be sure to have the car jacked up safely and watch yout feet while doing so. It is being held on by rust at this point. This should loosen it up.

This is a manual transmission? If so the clutch probably needs to be replaced. When you say "VIOLENTLY" what is going on, what is the road speed, what are the RPMs at?
