sounds like the fluid level may be low check that first and top up if needed, if its not low does the fluid smell burnt? if it smells the gearbox needs to be checked by transmission specialist. hope that helps you

You need to start by getting a code reader and checking for trouble codes - these will help you figure out what to do next. Any major auto parts store should be able to do this for you.
The first thing to check is the fluid level in the transmission. If quite low, look for red leakage on the floor where you park. Suggest you find a quality auto transmission shop to check this out before you require very expensive service. Good luck!
First,you need to put a code reader or scan tool into the connecter under the dash,and tell me what codes you have ,if any.
The LS will not go over 3000 rpm in park,as a safety feature.
I can not see it in park screaming away, so maybe I misunderstood the issues.
Is the tach just not coming down to idle speed?
HAVE A 03 LINCOLN LS V8 WITH A CVT TANSMITTION AND I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. MY CAR IS WHINDING UP TO 2500 RPM'S BEFORE SHIFTNG INTO SECOND GEAR AND IS READING AN "E" AS WELL DID U FINDA SOLUTION?
Should be somewhere around the radiator. It will look like a big black valve stem cap. If you are trying to connect one of those home service kits then the end of the hose will only fit on the low side, the high side wont connect.
Does this reset when you restart the car? You'll need to get the fault codes and post them here. My first guess is there's a misfire in one of the cylinders. The code will tell you which one.
