The headlights wont come on off stay in parking position

Your park/ headlights should have power when the key is in the off position. I would look at your headlight switch.

i don't know. jeep battery may be low. turn on headlights. see if headlights go out when you try to start. if lights out,
battery needs charging. if automatic, it may be 'neutral switch'. without trying to start, quickly move the selector from park to low and back 6 times. then try to start in park. if all seems ok then you may need to check battery's wire connections to the starter or you may need a new starter.

Can you turn the key forward and back to the off position, Is the shift lever in the park position, Is the steering wheel in the locked position????

hook up a ten amp charger in place of the battery..red/positive.. black negative..and plug it in...listen for a buzz or hum in a relay..it may be stuck or fused on..

headlights relay just that simple and for sure headlights will drain your battery when car is parked

It sounds like the dreaded LKM light control module. It fails leaving only 1 light on with all lights off and ignition off.Try www.bba-reman.com they have a list of common faults for BMW. Good luck.

they go off after like 5 - 10 min

Left of the two headlight buttons for headlights and parking, there is a vertical slider. It's labeled Twilight, meaning twilight sentinel that keeps the headlights on. Move it down and that shortens the on time to about 5 seconds. If you are sittting with the headlights on and want them to go off, push it to the bottom and it turns the lights off immediately. They will turn back on when the car is put into park.

Move the slider to the top and they should stay on for about 5 minutes. BTW if you just leave the headlight switch pushed in (if you're doing it manually) the car turns everything off in about 10 minutes--inside lights, radio, lights, cigarette lighter power (unless you moved the fuse in the underhood fuse block to make them stay on permanently).

You also may not know that if you are driving or sitting and want the headlights off but the parking lights to stay on, push the Parking LIghts button. That turns the headlights off. I didn't find that for a while because our 98 LeSabre didn't have any way to turn off the headlights while cruising through a Christmas display scene in a park where many people turn off the headlights to help the effect of the colored lights. Only 2 things can cause this either the headlight switch or the headlight relay,chances are it's the switch,if you have a multimeter pull the relay out and probe the leads with the headlights in the off position you should only have power on 1 wire,with them on 2 wires are hot if this is the case then the relay is stuck,it's in the fuse box under the hood,another thing can cause this if the fog lights have been rewired to stay on even with highbeams on,power will feed back to the headlight circuit.

Check the electrical grounds for the taillights. In fact, get a diagram and check all the easily accessible grounds. Many of these are in the engine bay.
