Do you have a vacuum route diagram for a 2005 ford taurus

All 2003 Ford vehicles were shipped with vacuum line routing diagrams printed on a sticker, which should be affixed inside your engine compartment. It is important that you use THAT diagram, as vacuum routing varies widely from vehicle to vehicle depending upon options and regional configuration.

You'll find this routing on a sticker under the hood near the top radiator core support and in your owners manual.

You can find the proper routing, by looking for the serpentine diagram, normally found on underside of hood or on radiator support in engine compartment

better check that info again. inspect belt routing diagram and vacuum diagram for thermactor pump and thermactor air system parts being present on your calibration. to my recollection there was no thermactor air used. where would they put all that plumbing?
pump, diverter valve, exhaust check valves, upstream and downstream air tubes? a ford has a label on the radiator support depicting the usage, hose color, and general vicinity in a schematic for ford technicians to identify. there is also a belt routing diagram that depicts the pulleys for the components. you dont have one...right?
you may have a code glossary for older vehicles. get the right manual at the library for free and restart diagnosis. or goto the emissions authorized repair facility and get the question answered after a quick self test

you didnt say what motor you had, but heres a few tips

the MASS (not massive) Air flow sensor -MAF is located between the air filter assembly and the throttle body

the O2 sensors are located either in the exhaust manifold and/or the exhaust pipes, many times before and after the cat. convertor.

anyplace you are getting your replacement parts from should be able to tell you right where these components are located

Chilton has a web site. You can access it for free. most times the failure is in the vacuum lines. Although the accuator door that controls air flow can become stuck in older vehicles hope this helps

this is a 2005 tarus with a code of po171, this code is not a mass air flow sensor code this code is defined as bank 1 system lean, ive run into this many times, this may be caused by a weak fuelpump or a vacuum leak, the most common problem i've found was a vacuum leak, check the pcv system and around intake for split hoses. hope this helps,
