Nissan altima starts when battery is reconnected

After i connected the battery i noticed the dashboard lights, fans, accessories all turned on, but the keys were not in the ignition. I wiggled the positive terminal slightly (bolts were all still finger tight) and it sparked and the engine turned over and the car kept running. I disconnected the ground and it died after about 20 seconds. A few notes: 1. I noticed the clamp for the positive cable seems a bit corroded and there;s blue powder on it. I dont know if this is an issue i should be worried about. 2. I should also say that the car was in an accident and few months ago, and I haven;t driven it while i've been repairing the front end. I hit a phone pole at about 10mph, and it was enough to crack the radiator and smash the front bumper. Thanks

Verdigris ( blue rubbish on the terminal) is a result of sulphuric acid from the vents of the battery
if you pull the terminals off the battery , you will most likely see that the battery posts are dull black with a hard surface
the posts and inside the terminals have to be shiny clean as that black coating is massive resistance to current flow

SOURCE: 2002 Altima engine won't start, but key does turn in the ignition

Is there a clicking sound? The first thing that I would check is to make sure that the starter motor is getting voltage. If it is getting voltage then I would say that the motor is bad and needs to be replaced. If it is not getting voltage then it could be a bad fuse, relay, or a bad ground. All of these are probabilities. The last thing that I would check for is a bad ignition switch especially since the accessories come on.

Have your alternator checked. Most auto supply places do this at no charge. Multiple dashboard warning lights usually indicate alternator problems.

SOURCE: 2002 NISSAN SENTRA DIED WHILE

Hello! There isn't power to ECM pins 109 and 111 because the ECM relay is not pulling...Pins 1 and 3 (White/Black wire) are tied together in the harness and should not show a change in symptom if jumped together...Also, Pins 1 and 3 are fed battery from fuse # 36 (15A hot at all times) and both pins must read +12 volts...Pin 2 of the relay coil is the pulling ground from the ECM...Reading across pins 1 and 2 with the key in the ON position should not read +12 volts...If it does the relay coil is open...With the key on the relay would show a voltage drop across the coil...Check pins 1 and 3...must be tied together and have +12 volts from fuse # 36 (15A hot at all times)...Replace ECM relay...See photo...............Guru....Saailer...

Have you first checked your battery ? If it is good, then check fuses. Might want to check your starter, is it getting power when you turn the key to start ? Will need someone to help you for this procedure.

Car won't start

You should be able to jump start the engine as long as you are very careful hooking up the cables.
You might want to check battery voltage with a meter first.

2008 nissan altima coupe the ac blower comes on then it turns off

Sounds like you have a bad connection at the blower motor plug. Have you checked under the glove box where the blower motor is? Usually has a big plug with 2 heavy gauge wires. that might be melted or getting a bad connection. Try holding the plug to one side or wiggle it to see if turns off blower. If not, check your resistor that controls your fan speed, located near the fan on your a/c ducts. Usually has a plug with 4 0r 5 wires held up by 2 screws. The wires are heavy gauge as well

I need to set the timing on my 2002 nissan altima

  • Tools needed: A timing light and wrenches.
  • Locate the crankshaft pulley at the front of the Altima's engine and clean it off to expose the timing marks. Start the car and turn off any accessories such as climate control, lights and the radio. Allow the engine to idle until it reaches normal operating temperature.
  • Turn off the engine and connect a tachometer to the distributor per the manufacturer's instructions. Connect the timing light to the battery and then to the number one ignition wire. Start the engine and verify it's idling at 1,000 RPM. Adjust the idle speed if necessary

  • Point the timing light at the crankshaft pulley to determine the amount of adjustment needed. Adjust the timing by loosening the distributor mounting bolts and turning the distributor until the crankshaft timing mark lines up with the middle line of the timing light.

  • Tighten the distributor mounting bolts and recheck the timing. Turn the Altima off and remove the tachometer and timing light. Reconnect the number one ignition wire.

    Battery issue.....

look closely if there are wires hanging near the positive terminal of the battery.

you could have miss reconnecting one wire that is connected to your starter or the main cable itself is corroded and is not making a contact. that main cable is the one hooked to the starter.
