SOURCE: 2005 ford taurus. Remote entry wont work theft light keeps blinking when key is engaged

HI, I'm reading your problem,
Let me explain something about your car.

2005 Ford Taurus, The key on that car has Chip inside of the key and receiver on the ignition switch,
Check if the key you are trying to use is Black and has a plastic head.
If not you need a key with that characteristics.
But if you have the right key, Remenber if you had drop on the floor, or hit with something,
Because some times they come damaged, with insignificat thins.
Remenber if you left the key close to a magnets like speakers.

If nothing aply at your case, you need to call a place Aloha Smith, they have the computer to program or reprogarm your key. IF not you can't start your car.

OK.. I hope this information work for you.

Thank's for submit yous question on fixya.com

Either you may be using a key that you had copied from the original or your chip went bad in your original key. Most of cars now a days have the key censor in the key so if it is the incorrect key it will not start your car or if it does not read that chip it will not start

SOURCE: Spare Key will not start the car.

no you don't have to have it done at dealership. i bought mine on ebay got it cut at walmart and it works. you need the two originals, turn the ignition to on and then off 4 times (i think it was) with the first two then put your spare key in and do the same. and it will work.

http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=5340.0
The timing is critical to this procedure, please read through the entire procedure before attempting.
Procedure:
1. Insert one of the pre-programmed transponder keys and turn the ignition to "on", leave on for at least one second (I wait until the red key symbol in the instrument cluster extiinguishes), remove the key from the ignition.
2. Within 5 seconds insert the second pre-programmed key and urn the ignition to "on" for at least one second but no more than 5 seconds (use the key symbol for this as well) then remove the second key.
3. within 10 seconds insert the new key in the ignition and turn the ignition to "on", if you are successful the red key symbol will illuminate then extinguish after about a second.

If you are not successful the red key symbol will flash repeatedly to indicate that you have inserted an invalid key. Remove the key, wait a minute and try it again, it took me a few times to get it perfect and I had done it before.

SOURCE: MY FORD ESCORT 1.6 FINESSE 1997 IMOBILISER FAULT

disconnect the battery for 1 minute and try again - ---quick fix possible with that---
if that makes no difference then I would like to know exactly what model of alarm and immobiliser the car has - what is the maker + model no/serialno of the keyfob for the alarm, I can get the info I need off that.
also you can check the fuse in the alarm if you know where the alarm is situated, it will have a fuse either on an inline fulseholder on as a spade fuse stuck into its casing somewhere - replace the fuse if blown and try again to start the car ------------ tell me the model no of your alarm and immobiliser if no joy after battery/fuses and I can read up on them and see if I can fix your problem...

Testimonial: "thanks for that info ive already tried it with no chane but many thanks for the info"

2001 taurus pats system needs reset, wont crank over.

You will need a key programmer to accept a new key into the ignition. If you have a registration and it's in your name then you goto dealer with identification and it's about 90.00 for a new key programmed. You could also buy the SB programmer from Ebay for about $80. but you would still need to cut a key. I used an ignition from a junkyard once and replaced it with that and then programmed that key but didn;t help with door locks so I had to program a FOB but that doesn't require the SB programmer only for the ignition key and had to program to the ECM. This was for a 2005 Accord but the process is the same if that is indeed a key with a transponder chip - not sure but believe it is.

try another key, if you install another key with ignition in the on position for 3 seconds warning light off, then turn off ignition switch, then start engine.if engine still dont start and the pats warning light keep flashing and dont turn off in 3 seconds.you need have vechicle pats system scan at dealership, you need diagnostic equipment to trouble shoot the PATS SYSTEMS.many things will cause you problems like fault to ecm to the immobilizer control module, could have worn transponder on key or faulty read coil in the ignition switch lock cylinder.

Sometimes car wont crank won't even turn over turn the key and the dome light goes out battery is good don't know whats going on with it than i wait next morning it cranks

Does it make any sound when it don't crank, a click, ? when you try to start, Dosi it drain lights down? turn head lights on try starting , do lights go out or stay din? if lights stay on and return bright then chance is that you have a starter dead spot . suggest replace starter and solenoid . but first check battery ends/connection's at solenoid / clean them / Auto Zone. will test starting and charging system for free if you can bring it to them .if you have any further questions feel free to ask i will be looking for your response . give some detail on what you have tried Thank You .

I just bought a 2000 ford taurus. It would not start or crank over.I noticed the ign.key had a lincoln key logo. I bought a new pats taurus key. It still did'nt turn over. A ngs was hooked up to the dlc...

At the base of your steering column is the ignition/start/run switch. This has failed and needs to be replaced. You'll need to drop the column and remove the kneepad to gain access. Be sure to locate the new switch in the exact spot of the old one. It has slotted screws.

My 2005 f150 wont star my anti theft system is

alarm rearms itself.

this is for 2001 and is similar.

Anti-Theft —PATS The passive anti-theft system (PATS) contains the following components:
  • theft indicator
  • encoded ignition key
  • transceiver module
  • instrument cluster
  • powertrain control module (PCM)
  • standard corporate protocol (SCP) communication network
The PATS uses radio frequency identification technology to deter a driveaway theft. Passive means that it does not require any activity from the user. This system is known as SecuriLock® in North America, Safeguard® in the U.K. and PATS in continental Europe. This information can be found in owners literature.
The PATS uses a specially encoded ignition key. Each encoded ignition key contains a permanently installed electronic device called a transponder. Each transponder contains a unique electronic identification code, with over 72 million billion combinations.
Each encoded ignition key must be programmed into the vehicle's instrument cluster (the instrument cluster is also known as a hybrid electronic cluster [HEC]), before it can be used to start the engine. There are special diagnostic procedures outlined in the workshop manual that must be carried out if new encoded ignition keys are to be installed.
The encoded key is larger than a traditional ignition key. The key does not require batteries and should last the life of the vehicle.
The transceiver module communicates with the encoded ignition key. This module is located behind the steering column shroud and contains an antenna connected to a small electronics module. During each vehicle start sequence, the transceiver module reads the encoded ignition key identification code and sends the data to the instrument cluster.
The control functions are contained in the instrument cluster. This module carries out all of the PATS functions such as receiving the identification code from the encoded ignition key and controlling engine enable. The instrument cluster initiates the key interrogation sequence when the vehicle ignition switch is turned to RUN or START.
The PATS uses the PCM to enable or disable the engine. The instrument cluster communicates with the PCM over the SCP network in order to enable engine operation. The instrument cluster and the PCM use sophisticated messages in order to prevent a theft. The instrument cluster and the PCM share security data (when first installed together) that makes them a matched pair. After this security data sharing, these modules will not function in other vehicles. The shared PCM ID is remembered even if the battery is disconnected. The instrument cluster also stores the vehicle's key identification code even if the battery is disconnected. There are special diagnostic procedures outlined in this workshop manual that may be carried out if either a new instrument cluster or PCM needs to be installed.
All elements of PATS must be functional before the engine is allowed to start. If any of the components are not working correctly, the vehicle will not start.
PATS uses a visual theft indicator. This indicator will prove out for three seconds when the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START under normal operation. If there is a PATS problem, this indicator will either flash rapidly or glow steadily (for more than three seconds) when the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START. PATS also "blips" the theft indicator every two seconds at ignition OFF to act as a visual theft deterrent.
The PATS is not compatible with aftermarket remote start systems, which allow the vehicle to be started from outside the vehicle. These systems may reduce the vehicle security level, and also may cause no-start issues. Remote start systems must be removed before investigation of PATS-related no-start issues.
