SOURCE: Total cost to replace subframe

hi,

check with the dealer.
I had the same problem and I found out that the subframe is under warranty for 12 years or 288 k.
Suzuki did not recalled the cars, but they extended the warranty.
If you already replaced it, may be you can get your money back.
good luck

SOURCE: how do i reset a timing belt on a 98 suzuki esteem

I just came across this site. It shows you how to remove a timing belt, as well a realign it. It says it's for a Suzuki Sidekick, but notice the Esteem in brackets. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: where location crank sensor suzuki esteem 2000

On the Esteem 1.6L: the Crankshaft Position Sensor is located on the right side (passenger side) of the engine Oil Pan.

For the Esteem 2.0L: the CKP is located behind the engine Flywheel in the back of the engine block. It is necessary to remove the transmission to service the sensor.

Hi! What are the correct timing marks for a 1.8 suzuki esteem engine. I needed for change the timing chain. Thanks

if you take off the upper belt cover and line up the top dead center timing mark the cam mark will be right on or off 180 degrees. Line up the dot on the cam with the arrow by rotating the crankshaft around till both the cam mark and the crank TDC mark line up. Now when you take off the lower cover all the marks will line up for the crank. They are usually pretty obvious, but if your are not sure at this point you can always paint your own. Just make sure when you slide the new belt on , all the timing marks line up.

The timing marks are not properly aligned or the distributor is not aligned properly.

You'll need to get a service manual for the exact settings, make sure that after you set the marks you rotate the engne 2 complete revolutions & recheck the marks prior to reassembling the covers. Double check the distributor timing as well & check for any possible vacuum leaks from hoses or gasket problems.

If your chain had broken originally, then you possibly have some upper engine valve damage that will have to be diagnosed. A compression test will reveal any bent or broken valves.

good luck

Is valve adjustment a part of normal maitenance on Suzuki Esteem

When you hear some tapping, that's why you need -valve adjustments. At 137,000miles you probably need more than that to continue your trouble-free drives.
