Answered

Not starting. Just bought son Renault clio. Having trouble starting it sometimes. If you get out and lock it then get back in it seems ok. Other day he was as lights and it just died and wouldn't start. Eventually after pushing it out of way they locked up then reopened and it seemed ok till he went to go out again and it wouldn't start. What is going on. Is it something to do with immobilizer.

I had the same problem with my renault clio dci..i found by chance that if you remove the diesel cap it worked fine...

Try asking the dealership if the TDC sensor needs replacing. The other issue is a loose wire connection on the solenoid....

Welcome to French cars. I have a 2003 Clio 1.9dci that has all the lights but wont start!! My fuse box under the bonnet was badly corroded, relays as well. Try there? There is a glow plug relay, don't assume the relay is OK. Get someone to turn the key on and meter test the wire to a glow plug to check there's power.

what year is this clio ,sounds about right for a renault of around 10 yrs old ,keep key away from mobile phone and TV screen and if its an older model with a transponder reader under the dash in the drivers footwell start the engine and cut the third wire and thenj it will have the immobilisor de mobilised but then anyone could steal the car so use a krooklock
