Automatic trans. Sometimes sluggish at take off. Rpms go really high when changing gears.Shifts hard also.
Do a transmission fluid and filter change, sound like transmission is slipping not getting enough fluid to go in overdrive.do little tune up,have ignition timing checked and idle speed have throttle cable adjusted could be out of adjustment.if you see check engine light flashing problem could be in the tps sensor.
This sounds like a slipping transmission , check the fluid level first and make sure its full, if its full then you have ****** problems and may need to have ****** rebuild done,
Another thing is to make sure the trans passing gear cable is connected at the throttle where the gas cable is.

I had the same problem before. after using the scanner i got a code number P0507. "Idle Air Control", New 2002 and up Nissan models like my Altima don't have an idle valve or sensor like older models to be replace. Here's the solution " Replace your "Throttle Chamber" the idle sensor is build in it, there is no other way to fix this problem. the throttle chamber is about $175.00 at your Nissan Dealer. The need your core or you will need to pay extra money. No need for expensive mechanic shop, you could do this your self. the throttle chamber is so easy to remove, four screws holds it together. I will take you about ten to twenty minutes to replace it. Please trust me and you will save big bucks!!!!!

well Im sure theres a ton of miles on it-do u perform reg maint like checkin fluid level-u may need the throttle cable ajusted that hooks to trans-band n clutch could be out of measure too--trans hydra-valve system could be worn--see all these things effect the way the fluid makes the gears move--a pressure test can confirm an aging trans

Sounds like there may be a problem with the Idle air control motor (IAC).Have it checked out it may just need to be cleaned. At the worst replaced
