I was driving 70mph down the highway and it just died. It now will not start, and it just cranks. There were no service lights on or anything before it did this at all. It just happened all of a sudden. The only symptoms the car was showing was pretty bad vibration on startup and idle speed (which i thought was related to a broken transmission mount) and a squealing noise on startup as well which I was going to have serviced at the end of the week to see what it was. What could make the car die like that??

You need to have the system tested for trouble codes, Kragen auto and othes do this for free, post the trouble code back here on this thread.

Sounds like the EGR valve is bad and is stuck in the open position.Just replace that and you should also check the catalytic converter.

Needs tuning. Also replace fuel and air filters. If that doesn't help then it may need piston ring replacement.

its your throttle body needs to be reset...i had the same problem with my magna...when your battery is disconnected for too long your computer can reset itself. just advice so call an authorised dealer and doublecheck whether your model does it

the issues with testing an alternator, is that if it is a turbine error, that never starts until constant wear is being promoted by the computer.
This "Mechanic" was he using an OBD Scanner? if not? why Not?
have someone do a diagnostics on your car.
