Hi
Had a similar problem with my x type 2.5 petrol, only had the car 1 day went to start it nothing happend all the lights came up on the dash but the engine wouldn't start and the immobiliser light stayed on. Spoke to Jaguar they had no idea and I couldn't get it to them. After disconnecting the battery trying to reset the immobiliser phoned and auto locksmith they came out and discovered the end of the key with the blade had lost it's coding and the immobiliser was not disarming, they reprogrammed the key and the car started no problem. As far as i know there is no way past the immobiliser. Hope this helps.

here is how: Push and hold the trip computer button on the left stalk, while holding the button turn the ignition ON and OFF several times untill you hear a confirmation tone from the glovebox area, when the tone is heard, release the button and remove the key from the ignition, immediately after push any button on the Key FOB and you'll hear another tone that confirms the programming.

If I am understanding your post, I believe you do have a levelling
system
and it should be near your light switch on the dash. It is
the
type of switch that you depress first, it then springs out and
you
turn the small knob (just like your instrument panel lights
adjuster
next to it.) What you do not have perhaps, if your car is
not
fitted with HIDs (high intensity headlamps), is the automatic
levelling
system which is a legal requirement when HIDs are fitted
due to the
high power of the lights....
if you don't have a self-levelling system then you'll have a manual
system,
operated by a knob under the light switch so that you can
adjust to
compensate for a heavy load in the rear of the car.
Testimonial: "I did see the little knob on the dash under the headlight switch. i thought it was to dim the dash lights i will check it out and let you know. "
