Dash lights 96 caprice classic

Twilight feature is used by the BCM to turn on the headlights when light levels diminish. Dash, cluster lighting is controlled by a rheostat near the headlight switch. The rheostat is rolled up for brighter lights. If this does not work the interior module may have burned out or the rheostat may be bad. If interior lights come on when rheostat is rolled fully up it most likely is OK. Interior lighting module is located above the headlight switch beside the cluster on the left side.

Does your Caprice have Twilight sentinel ? If not no relay , If yes it has Twilight sentinel module .

Before you replace the switch, test it at the dash connection and see if it is getting a signal from it. The lights are made to dim when the lights are turned on and is a separate circuit than daylight running.

Probably bad ground in the dash circuitry. You'll have to pull it out and check all the connections. Big job.

sounds like a wiring problem, possibly grounding out. check all your connections again. check headlight relay...

Did you try the head lamp switch.The one on the dash not the steering column?if you have power going in then when you turn the head lights on you should have power going out.Power in would be the red wire and going out would be the yellow wire when you turn the lights on.Does your vehicle have twilight sentinel?This is auto lights where they go on by them selves when you have them in auto mode.Hope this helps.Good luck.

YES, TAKE A MOTO TOOL AND MAKE A SLOT IN THE SREW THAT IS LOCATED UPPER EACH HEAD LIGHT. YOU WILL FIND IT EASY BECAUSE THERE IS JUST ONE EMBEDED IN A PLASTIC MOLDED PIECE THAT SECURE IT TO THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. FOR TO ADJUST IT LATERALY, YOU WILL NNED A RATCHED WITH A 10mm CUBE AND A DARK PLACE TO MAKE ADJUSTEMENTS

Check your fuses first. In a '92 Roadmaster, they would be number 14 and 15, light blue 15A fuses. I am not sure about other years, but your owners manual should tell you. Otherwise it could be the headlight switch, or the Twilight Sentinel Module if your car has the option.
I had a similar problem a few months ago with my '92 Roadmaster Wagon. My problem was due to the Twilight Sentinel Module. If your parking lights do not come on (dash lights, too), but the headlights do when your Twilight Sentinel should turn them all on, try to use the rocker switch to turn on the lights. If the parking lights come on with the rocker switch, I believe you need a Twilight Sentinel Module. However, if you do not have a Twilight Sentinel Module, or your lights do not come on using the rocker switch, you may have a bad switch or faulty wiring. The Twilight Sentinel Module is located way up under the dash, to the right (passenger) side of the steering column where the column goes through the firewall. It looks like the one in the picture, and could be off white or gray, or perhaps a different color.
